Roborock’s Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge earned Android Headlines’ “Best of IFA 2024” recognition because they addressed practical robot-vacuum problems—not simply because they advertised high suction. Their headline innovations were a liftable chassis for raised floor transitions, a dual anti-tangle system for hair, extending edge-cleaning hardware, and docks designed to reduce routine maintenance.
The award was editorial recognition from Android Headlines, not an official IFA certification or the result of a controlled laboratory comparison. The products stood out at the September 2024 show, but claims about cleaning performance, hair removal, threshold crossing, and reliability require appropriate qualification.
What Android Headlines recognized
Android Headlines published its award feature on September 10, 2024, during IFA 2024 in Berlin. The publication selected the Roborock Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge as notable robot-vacuum products because they targeted several persistent weaknesses of automated floor cleaners:

- Getting stuck on raised thresholds and uneven transitions.
- Wrapping long hair or pet hair around the brush.
- Leaving dust near walls and furniture.
- Requiring frequent manual cleaning of brushes, mops, tanks, and dust containers.
That makes the award’s central argument more interesting than a simple “higher number wins” specification story. A robot vacuum becomes genuinely more autonomous when it can handle the mechanical obstacles and maintenance tasks that otherwise bring the owner back into the process.

However, the feature was launch and event coverage. It did not establish controlled pickup measurements, independent hair-tangle testing, battery testing, noise measurements, long-term reliability, or a head-to-head result against competing robot vacuums.
The main innovation: a liftable chassis
The Curv and Edge use Roborock’s AdaptiLift chassis, a motorized height-adjustment system intended to help the robot deal with uneven flooring, thicker carpet transitions, and raised thresholds.
Launch coverage reported that the chassis could adjust the robot’s height by up to 10mm. Roborock’s later U.S. product information for the Qrevo Curv described threshold traversal of up to approximately 40mm, or 4cm, under suitable conditions. Those figures should not be merged:

- 10mm describes the reported chassis-height adjustment.
- Approximately 40mm describes a later advertised threshold-crossing capability.
The larger number is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for every doorway or floor transition. A threshold’s height, vertical face, angle, surface material, available approach space, and traction can all affect whether the robot succeeds.
This is best understood as threshold management, not stair climbing. The available evidence does not support describing the Curv or Edge as a robot that can climb ordinary household stairs. In a home with several low, rounded transitions, the chassis could be valuable. A sharp, slippery, narrow, or unusually shaped step may still stop the robot.
How the dual anti-tangle system works
Roborock paired two brush systems under the “Dual Anti-Tangle” concept:
DuoDivide main brush
The DuoDivide brush uses a split design with short bristle rollers and spiral blades. Its purpose is to guide hair toward the dustbin instead of allowing long strands to wind continuously around one central roller.
FlexiArm Arc side brush
The FlexiArm Arc side brush extends or swings toward edges and helps direct hair and debris into the robot’s main cleaning path. The same edge-oriented hardware also supports closer cleaning along walls and furniture.

Roborock claimed a 100% hair-removal rate. That figure must remain attributed to Roborock; the award article did not provide a test protocol that would establish it as a universal real-world result.
There is also an important difference between reducing hair wrapping and eliminating maintenance. Hair may be moved into the dustbin rather than disappearing. Long human hair, short pet fur, carpet fibers, and hair around bearings or wheels can behave differently. Owners may still need to inspect the side brush, wheels, caster, mop assemblies, brush ends, and dock area periodically.
18,500Pa suction: useful headline, incomplete measurement
Both models were promoted with up to 18,500Pa of suction. Pascal is a pressure measurement, but it is not a complete measure of cleaning performance.
That number alone does not prove:
- How well the robot removes embedded debris from carpet.
- How much airflow reaches the floor.
- How effectively the brush agitates dirt.
- How noisy the robot is.
- How long it can run at maximum power.
- How well it handles mopping or dried stains.
Brush geometry, airflow, seals, carpet-boost behavior, navigation, and the number of cleaning passes also matter. The Qrevo Curv and Edge may have impressive specifications, but the award article did not independently demonstrate that they out-cleaned every competing IFA product.
Vacuuming, mopping, and edge coverage
The Curv and Edge were presented as vacuum-and-mop robots with dual rotating mop pads, mop lifting for carpet transitions, extending side-brush hardware, and dock-based maintenance.
Roborock’s current U.S. listing for the Qrevo Curv describes features including:
- FlexiArm edge mopping.
- Up to 18,500Pa claimed suction.
- Hot-water mop washing at up to 167°F / 75°C.
- Warm-air mop drying.
- Automatic dust emptying.
- Automatic tank refilling.
- Intelligent dirt detection.
- LiDAR navigation.
These are details from a later U.S. product listing and should not automatically be treated as confirmed specifications for every regional or pre-release configuration shown at IFA 2024.
Extending brushes and mop pads can reduce the strip of uncleaned flooring beside baseboards and furniture. They cannot guarantee perfect corners. Baseboard profiles, furniture clearance, obstacle avoidance, and the shape of the room still matter. Rotating mop pads are also not a substitute for manually treating heavy, dried, or sticky stains.
Qrevo Curv versus Qrevo Edge
The available launch coverage suggests that the Curv and Edge share most of their important cleaning platform. The most obvious difference is the dock.

Contemporary comparison coverage described their core specifications as nearly identical. The evidence does not justify claiming that the Curv is definitively the better cleaner or that the Edge is a lower-performance tier. The award was effectively recognition of the shared Roborock platform, with the Curv providing the more visually distinctive dock.
For a buyer, the practical decision may come down to dock placement, regional availability, warranty terms, bundle contents, and current price rather than a major cleaning-performance difference.

The strongest fit is a home where the technology solves a specific recurring problem:
- Homes with raised transitions: AdaptiLift may help where ordinary robot vacuums regularly become stuck.
- Pet-owning households: The anti-tangle design is aimed at reducing brush maintenance, although Roborock’s performance claim is not independent test evidence.
- Long-haired households: The DuoDivide and FlexiArm combination is designed around hair management.
- Mixed-floor homes: Mop lifting and carpet-aware navigation can help manage hard floors and rugs.
- Large homes: Auto-emptying, mop washing, drying, and tank management can reduce daily intervention.
- Owners seeking maximum automation: The dock handles more tasks than a basic charging station.
They are a weaker fit for small apartments with little dock space, homes with mostly flush floors, buyers who only need inexpensive vacuuming, or anyone who does not want to maintain tanks, bags, filters, brushes, mop pads, sensors, and wheels.

Threshold geometry matters
A sharp vertical threshold may defeat the robot even when its height is below an advertised maximum. Slippery flooring can also prevent traction. Measure the actual transition and consider its shape, not only its height.
Clutter remains a problem
Cables, socks, toys, carpet fringes, and pet accidents can still interfere with a robot vacuum. Obstacle recognition and anti-tangle brushes reduce risk; they do not make loose objects harmless.
Stairs remain outside the claim
Neither the 10mm chassis adjustment nor the later threshold claim means the robot can navigate a staircase. Multi-level homes may still require carrying the robot and managing maps manually.
The dock reduces work but adds complexity
An all-in-one dock can wash and dry mop pads, empty dust, and manage water, but it also adds pumps, tanks, sensors, moving parts, consumables, and a larger footprint. Owners still need to clean the dock, replace bags and mop pads, maintain tanks, and inspect the robot.

Wi-Fi and placement can affect setup
The current U.S. Curv listing specifies 2.4GHz Wi-Fi support. Homes using band steering, isolated IoT networks, or 5GHz-only setup may need to adjust router settings during installation. The dock also needs enough front and side clearance for reliable return and maintenance cycles.
What the 2024 award did—and did not—prove
The award made sense as recognition of practical mechanical innovation. Roborock was addressing failure points that affect everyday ownership: tangled hair, missed edges, stuck robots, and manual mop maintenance.

- Controlled pickup measurements.
- Independent hair-tangle testing.
- Defined battery-runtime testing.
- Noise measurements.
- Long-term reliability data.
- Comparative results against competing models.
- Evidence that every home would achieve the advertised threshold performance.
That distinction is especially important for the “100% hair removal” claim and the approximately 40mm threshold claim. Both may be meaningful under particular test conditions, but the available coverage does not establish how those conditions translate to every floor plan, carpet, hair type, or threshold.
What changed after IFA 2024?
The original award remains a 2024 event judgment. It should not automatically be treated as a 2026 buying recommendation.
Roborock’s U.S. store now lists the original Qrevo Curv, while the product family has expanded to include later models such as the Qrevo CurvX and Qrevo Edge 2. Those newer products should not be confused with the original IFA 2024 Curv and Edge.

Prices, discounts, availability, warranties, and included accessories change, so readers should check the live official product page before purchasing. The Edge’s indexed official listing did not provide a dependable current base price, and warranty information should be verified by region and model.
Later alternatives may offer newer navigation, slimmer bodies, or higher claimed suction, but a higher specification number does not by itself make them a better fit. Compare dock size, threshold needs, under-furniture clearance, consumable availability, current price, and warranty coverage.
How to decide between them
- Measure thresholds first. Record both height and shape, including the available approach angle.
- Assess the hair burden. Long human hair and pet fur may require different maintenance expectations.
- Check the dock footprint. A rounded or rectangular design may fit very differently against walls and furniture.
- Decide whether mopping automation is worth the complexity. Washing and drying reduce labor but add tanks, pumps, consumables, and maintenance.
- Compare current generations. Check the original Curv and Edge against newer CurvX and Edge 2 models before paying a premium.
- Verify support. Confirm replacement bags, brushes, filters, mop pads, app compatibility, shipping, returns, and warranty terms for your country.
For the original pair, choose the Curv when its rounded dock, availability, or discount suits the room. Consider the Edge when its rectangular dock is easier to place or when its current price and warranty are more favorable. The available evidence does not justify paying substantially more for the Edge on the assumption that it cleans better.
