The Bosch RA1181 and Kreg PRS2100 are two benchtop router tables worth comparing, but the available evidence supports different conclusions about each. Bosch documents the RA1181’s features and compatible routers; WOOD magazine reports that the PRS2100 earned recognition for its fence in a test of 11 compact tables. Neither finding establishes a universal best choice. Match the table’s usable support, fence, stability, dust collection, and exact router fit to the work you do.
What matters when choosing a benchtop router table
A benchtop router table holds a handheld router beneath its surface, letting you guide stock across a stationary bit. Its compact footprint can suit a small shop, but the table supports less material than a larger installation unless you add suitable infeed and outfeed support.
- Work surface: Compare usable dimensions, material, flatness, and how much of your workpiece remains supported through a cut.
- Fence: Look for rigid support, controlled parallel adjustment, and faces that can be adjusted toward one another around the bit when the task calls for it.
- Stability: Consider the base, how securely the table can be positioned, and whether a top-heavy setup could shift during use.
- Dust collection: Check the port size and where dust is collected; confirm that your vacuum hose and setup will connect as intended.
- Router fit: Check the precise router model and base configuration against the table maker’s compatibility information. A mounting plate that fits some routers may not fit others.
Bosch RA1181: documented features and fit checks
Bosch lists an aluminum top, a rigid mounting plate pre-drilled for selected routers, and above-table height adjustment for compatible setups. The manufacturer also lists adjustable fence faces, featherboards, an accessory slot, and a dust port sized for common 2-1/2-inch vacuum hoses. In its 2024 review, Bob Vila describes a 27-by-18-inch surface, an aluminum table and fence with MDF faces, and a plastic base. Kreg PRS2100: a fence-focused result
WOOD magazine reported on April 22, 2025, that it tested 11 compact router tables and that the Kreg PRS2100 earned honors thanks to its fence. This is a result attributed to that publisher’s test; it does not establish that the Kreg is best for every shop or task. The cited report alone does not establish current official specifications or router compatibility, so verify those details in Kreg’s current documentation before purchase. Consider the Bosch RA1181 if its documented setup fits
The Bosch merits consideration if its published router list matches your exact setup and its aluminum top, adjustable fence faces, and dust-port arrangement suit your work. Before deciding, account for the reviewer-reported setup and leveling and top-heavy considerations, and verify what accessories are included with the particular listing.
Consider the Kreg PRS2100 if fence quality is your priority
WOOD magazine’s fence-related recognition makes the PRS2100 a reasonable candidate to investigate if fence control is central to your choice. Confirm its current specifications, included accessories, and router compatibility from Kreg’s documentation rather than treating the award as a substitute for fit checks.

Plan support for longer or larger stock
A compact benchtop table limits how much material is supported before and after the bit. If your work includes long or wide pieces, assess the whole setup—including stable infeed and outfeed support—not just the tabletop dimensions.
Checks to make before buying
- Identify your router’s exact model and base configuration, then check the table maker’s current compatibility information.
- Confirm the usable tabletop dimensions, surface condition, and the support your typical workpieces will need.
- Inspect how the fence adjusts, how securely it is supported, and whether its faces can close around the bit when needed.
- Check the base and mounting arrangement for stability in your intended location.
- Match the dust port to your hose and collection setup, and verify which accessories the seller actually includes.
- Check the current manual or manufacturer page for dimensions, setup requirements, and safety guidance before operating the table.
Bosch describes its featherboards as providing additional guidance and kickback protection. They do not replace the model manual, suitable workpiece support, or safe operating technique.
