The ring-shaped smart bar in the headline is the Barsys 360, a countertop cocktail maker that dispenses measured amounts from six ingredient stations under Bluetooth control from a phone or tablet. Barsys advertises more than 2,000 recipes, but that is a recipe-library claim—not a promise that the machine stores every ingredient or autonomously prepares every drink. You supply the liquids, and many cocktails still need ice, shaking or stirring, garnish, or other hands-on finishing.
What the Barsys 360 is
The Barsys 360 is an automated ingredient dispenser for a home bar. Its circular, Halo-like appearance describes its design; it is not a Halo-branded product or an indication of any connection to Microsoft or another Halo product. The machine pairs with the Barsys app on iOS or Android over Bluetooth 5.0. You load liquids into its six stations, assign them in the app, choose or customize a recipe, and position a glass beneath the outlets. The machine then dispenses measured portions. Barsys describes the system and current recipe offering on its official product page.
In practical terms, it is closer to a programmable pourer with recipe guidance than to a robot bartender. It does not shop for ingredients, refrigerate them, or reliably perform every preparation step a drink may require. The official listing includes a wireless mixer, but that does not mean every recipe is automatically shaken, strained, carbonated, or garnished.
How making a drink works
- Load the stations. Pour compatible spirits, mixers, juices, syrups, or other liquids into the six ingredient containers.
- Connect and identify them. Pair a phone or tablet through Bluetooth and tell the app what is in each station.
- Choose a drink. Select a recipe supported by the loaded ingredients, or customize a recipe where the app allows.
- Position a glass. Place a suitable glass beneath the dispensing outlets.
- Dispense and finish. Let the machine pour the measured ingredients. Add ice, garnish, carbonation, or manual shaking and stirring as the recipe requires; use the included wireless mixer where appropriate.
- Clean the system. Flush stations and dispensing paths after use, particularly after ingredients that are sugary, pulpy, strongly flavored, or perishable.
The app and manufacturer’s FAQ are the places to check for current pairing, recipe, and cleaning instructions. Do not assume the machine can be used fully without its app unless current support documentation says so.

What “more than 2,000 cocktails” means
Barsys currently advertises access to more than 2,000 curated recipes. Earlier coverage described the machine as making more than 1,000 cocktails, which helps explain the headline’s “1,000s” phrasing. The bigger number should be understood as the breadth of the app’s recipes and possible ingredient combinations—not as 2,000 drinks physically stored inside the machine or ready to pour regardless of what you have loaded.
The 360 has six stations, each holding about 750 milliliters, for a stated total capacity of roughly 4.5 liters. That is substantial liquid capacity, but it does not make every recipe in the app available at once. A recipe may call for something not loaded, exceed the practical six-liquid setup, or require ingredients or techniques—such as muddling fresh fruit—that dispensing alone cannot provide. A machine loaded for margaritas, martinis, and whiskey sours, for example, is not simultaneously stocked for every creamy, tropical, sparkling, or fresh-herb drink.

The most accurate summary is: Barsys advertises access to more than 2,000 recipes, but the 360 can dispense only drinks supported by the ingredients you load and the manual finishing they require. Barsys and some coverage also describe quick preparation; any specific time such as approximately 15 seconds is a claim for certain drinks, not a universal measured result or a guarantee that a finished cocktail is ready in that time.

Ingredients, temperature, and cleaning
Barsys says the machine accepts alcohol and mixers, including creams, liqueurs, and syrups. It advises against honey and similarly viscous liquids, as well as juices containing substantial pulp or seeds. Clear spirits and ordinary mixers are generally the less troublesome choices. Thick or particulate liquids can flow inconsistently or clog the dispensing path, while fresh juice and cream bring more demanding freshness and cleaning considerations.

The machine is not refrigerated. Barsys says it is insulated and can maintain the temperature of liquids for up to six hours after loading; that is a manufacturer statement, not an independently verified temperature test. Chill ingredients before filling if you want a cold drink, use ice as appropriate, and avoid leaving perishable liquids sitting in the stations. Empty and clean after use rather than treating the reservoirs like a refrigerator.
Barsys describes a two-step station-cleaning routine: use the app’s station-cleaning feature to flush remaining ingredient, then mix the supplied cleaning solution with water, fill the selected station, and flush it through. Follow the current manual for the exact procedure. Cleaning is part of owning a liquid dispenser, not an optional extra: sugar can build up, pulp can obstruct flow, dairy can contaminate later drinks, and flavors can carry over between recipes. If a station stops flowing, stop dispensing rather than repeatedly forcing it; flush it using the official method and contact Barsys support if flow does not return.

Barsys still listed the 360 for sale on its U.S. product page when checked in August 2026, but the page showed inconsistent prices: one rendering showed $239.99, marked down from $485, while another showed $375. Treat either figure as a time-sensitive price signal, not a guaranteed offer. Check the current listing and checkout total for the price, shipping, availability, warranty, and return terms that apply to your order.

Who is it for?
The 360 makes the most sense for people who entertain often, want repeatable measured pours, enjoy browsing recipes, and are willing to keep ingredients loaded, chilled, and clean. It uses the owner’s liquids rather than relying on a capsule workflow described on the official product page, which offers flexibility but also makes the owner responsible for sourcing and managing ingredients. It can also support mocktails, according to Barsys’ product information and FAQ; check current app support and recipe availability if alcohol-free menus are central to your plans.
It is a weaker fit if you make only one or two drinks, dislike cleaning lines, expect cold ingredients to stay cold without refrigeration, or rely on fresh herbs, muddled fruit, thick syrups, or elaborate shaking and straining. It also depends on app and Bluetooth use, which may not appeal to someone seeking a simple standalone appliance.
Alternatives by kind of drink-maker
- Barsys Shaker Pro: A much less expensive smart shaker that uses weight sensors and LED guidance to help you measure and shake, rather than dispensing from six liquid stations. Barsys pages have shown prices around $45–$49.99; verify the current offer at Barsys Shaker Pro. Better for someone who wants help making drinks, not a button-operated dispenser.
- Barsys 2.0+: A larger, premium automated home-bar system. Barsys listed it at $1,605 when captured, far above the 360; see the official product page for current details. It is a step-up option, not an obvious value choice for casual drinkers.
- SmartBarIQ Solo: A guided system centered on an on-screen workflow and built-in scale, with its site advertising more than 500 cocktails filtered around ingredients in the user’s bar. It guides preparation rather than storing six liquids and dispensing the recipe. Current price and purchasing details are not established here; check SmartBarIQ’s site.
- Drinkworks Home Bar: Keurig’s old product page describes a pod-based machine with chilling and carbonation, but the page is explicitly archived/old. Do not treat it as a currently available or supported recommendation without confirming both. See the archived Drinkworks page.
- Commercial Smartender systems: SmartBar USA lists systems with 8, 18, 34, or 50 liquor/wine positions. They are aimed at bars and venues, not most living rooms; details are on the Smartender series page.
For many occasional drinkers, a jigger, shaker, and recipe app are simpler and less demanding than maintaining several liquid stations. A smart shaker is a middle ground if measurement guidance matters more than automatic pouring.
Bottom line
The Barsys 360 is a real, flexible home cocktail dispenser, but the ring-shaped appliance is not an autonomous bartender. Its 2,000-plus figure describes recipe access, while actual choices depend on six loaded stations, compatible liquids, and the amount of manual preparation a drink needs. Buy it for entertaining and consistent measured pours if you accept the app, ingredient, temperature, and cleaning trade-offs. If you want refrigeration, zero cleanup, or cocktails finished entirely by a machine, this is not that product.
Because it dispenses alcohol quickly, hosts should monitor servings, keep the machine inaccessible to children, offer water and alcohol-free options, and never let anyone who has been drinking drive.
