Yes—some Samsung appliances are made in the United States. Samsung’s Newberry County, South Carolina, facility manufactures top-load washers, front-load washers and washer-dryer combinations. That does not mean every Samsung appliance, or every model in those categories, is U.S.-made. Country of origin must be verified for the specific unit.
Where Samsung makes appliances in the United States
Samsung established its Newberry County, South Carolina, home-appliance plant in 2017. The company began commercial production of ship-ready washers there in January 2018.
Samsung says the Newberry operation forms key washer components, including cabinets, inner tubs and bases, from blank steel. A 2018 company announcement quoted plant manager Tony Fraley saying, “The entire manufacturing process for washers will occur right here in Newberry.” That statement described the facility’s 2017–2018 launch period; it is not evidence that every current Samsung washer is made there.

Samsung’s 2025 sustainability toolkit identifies Newberry as the company’s first U.S.-based home-appliance manufacturing facility and lists these product categories:

A category-level listing is not a model-by-model origin catalog. Product lines and factory assignments can change, so avoid treating the table as a guarantee for a particular appliance.
Why “Samsung is made in America” is too broad
“Made in America” can describe a particular product’s substantial manufacturing, not an entire brand’s global supply chain. Samsung sells many appliance categories and models, and the evidence available for Newberry identifies washer categories rather than every appliance sold in the United States.

Do not infer a refrigerator, range, dishwasher or washer’s origin from Samsung’s U.S. investment announcement. Also do not assume that every top-load or front-load washer has the same origin without checking its labeling or documentation.

- Record the exact model number. Use the model number on the product listing, specification sheet or appliance itself. Similar-looking models can have different manufacturing origins.
- Inspect the country-of-origin label. Look on the appliance, packaging and required retail labeling for wording such as “Made in,” “Assembled in” or another country-of-origin statement.
- Read the model-specific documentation. Check Samsung’s specifications, installation documents and warranty materials for the exact model, not just the product family.
- Ask the seller to confirm the shipped unit. Retail listings can cover multiple configurations or change inventory. Request confirmation tied to the model number and the unit’s label.
- Recheck before delivery if origin matters. Manufacturing locations can change, and a retailer’s older product description may not match current stock.
What Samsung has reported about the South Carolina plant
Samsung announced a planned $380 million investment in the Newberry facility in 2017. That is the announcement figure, not a verified current valuation.

The same 2017 announcement projected 954 local jobs by 2020. In a 2023 report, Samsung said the facility supported over 1,500 local jobs and had generated nearly $500 million in capital investment for the region. These are Samsung-reported figures with the dates stated; no independent current employment or investment total is established here.
What this means for a purchase decision
- If you want a Samsung appliance made in the United States, start with a washer or washer-dryer combination listed in Samsung’s Newberry categories.
- Treat the category as a lead, not proof for a specific model.
- Require model-level country-of-origin confirmation before paying a premium or making a “made in America” purchasing claim.
- For refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers and other categories, assume nothing about U.S. manufacture until the exact unit’s labeling or documentation confirms it.
Bottom line
Samsung does make some appliances in America: its Newberry County, South Carolina, facility is documented as producing top-load washers, front-load washers and washer-dryer combinations. The evidence does not support saying that all Samsung appliances—or every model in those categories—are made in the United States. Check the exact appliance’s country-of-origin label and model documentation for a reliable answer.
