Yes—but only in a specific sense. Aldi’s Expressi was named the Canstar Blue 2024 Most Satisfied Customer Award winner for Coffee Pod Machines. The result reflects surveyed owners’ satisfaction and value ratings, not a current 2026 ranking, laboratory taste test or guarantee of long-term reliability. The current Aldi listing shows the machine at $78.99 (checked 18 August 2026), while capsule availability and model details deserve careful checking before you buy.
What Aldi actually won
Contemporary coverage reported that Expressi beat brands including Nespresso and De’Longhi in Canstar Blue’s 2024 Coffee Pod Machine category. It was reportedly the only machine to receive five stars for overall customer satisfaction and value for money. Aldi’s announcement also reported four stars for performance, design, ease of use, functionality and cleaning.
Those findings are reported by PerthNow and Aldi. “Best” therefore means the highest-rated customer experience in that 2024 award category—not necessarily the best-tasting machine, most reliable machine or best machine overall according to an expert panel.

Customer surveys measure ownership perceptions such as convenience and value. They do not establish extraction quality, temperature consistency, failure rates or the breadth of a capsule range. CHOICE says its coffee-machine testing considers taste, ease of use, milk frothing and temperature consistency, although detailed ratings are member-only.

The fair conclusion is: Expressi was the 2024 customer-satisfaction winner. No evidence here establishes it as Australia’s best pod machine in 2026.
Current price, capsules and availability
Aldi’s current product page lists the Expressi Coffee Capsule Machine at $78.99. Aldi warns that price, stock and product details vary by location and that products may be available only while stocks last. Treat this as a listed price checked on 18 August 2026, not a guaranteed national price.
Many 16-capsule packs on Aldi’s Expressi range page are listed at $7.99—about $0.50 per capsule. One capsule a day would cost approximately $182.50 a year before milk and electricity. CHOICE estimates pod prices across the market at roughly 36–95 cents each and gives about $182 annually for a 50-cent daily capsule. The $6.79 per 16 capsules (about 42 cents each) mentioned in Aldi’s 2024 announcement is historical, not the current figure.

Availability is part of the cost. CHOICE describes Aldi Expressi as appearing at certain times of year and warns that restricted pod availability can be a drawback. If you cannot conveniently reach Aldi or source confirmed-compatible capsules, the low machine price may not represent good value.
Which machine and specifications?
Do not assume every Aldi Expressi generation is identical. CHOICE lists the newer Aldi Expressi Multi-Beverage Capsule Machine, model EXP-19CCMB, with these specifications:
- Expressi Reggio capsule system and thermoblock heating
- 19-bar stated pump pressure
- 0.7-litre water reservoir
- 23 × 12 × 30 cm dimensions and 2.5 kg weight
- Separate milk frothing rather than an integrated milk system
- Standby mode after 10 minutes
See the CHOICE technical listing. Aldi’s award announcement instead describes three adjustable beverage buttons, a 0.8-litre tank, a 19-bar pump, a used-capsule container for up to 10 capsules and automatic shut-off. The 0.7- versus 0.8-litre discrepancy may reflect model variation, usable versus nominal capacity or different editions; check the exact box and manual.

A 19-bar rating is a specification, not proof of better extraction or taste. Pod coffee prioritises speed and repeatability over freshly ground coffee control. Drink size, capsule blend, cup size and milk also affect the result. “Rich”, “aromatic” and “café-quality” wording on Aldi’s product page is marketing language, not independent testing.

Aldi says Expressi pods should be used with an Aldi Expressi machine and are not compatible with other pod-machine systems. Expressi is not Nespresso Original and is not Nespresso Vertuo. Never assume a Nespresso-compatible capsule will fit.
CHOICE notes that Aldi Expressi/Ka-Fee capsules fit Expressi machines and that some Urban Brew capsules are marketed as compatible with Aldi Expressi, Nespresso Original and Caffitaly System machines. Compatibility can depend on the exact edition and capsule design, so read the capsule box and manual before buying in bulk. Aldi’s flavour range includes decaf, flavoured coffee and hot chocolate, but selection and store stock can be limited.

Why buyers liked it
- Very low entry price compared with many branded capsule machines.
- Simple buttons and quick, compact operation.
- Capsules commonly cost about 50 cents each at the August 2026 listed price.
- Separate Aldi milk frother available for $31.99 on the same brand page.
- The genuine 2024 Canstar Blue customer-satisfaction and value result.
Why some owners regret buying it
Feedback for the newer EXP-19CCMB is substantially less reassuring than the award headline. At access, its ProductReview page showed 1.9/5 from 45 reviews, with 78% of displayed reviews negative. Users reported leaking, failed pod piercing, jams, noise, vibration, inconsistent operation and early breakdowns.
These are anecdotal reports, not a controlled defect rate, and they may concern a newer model than the machines represented in the 2024 award. ProductReview’s broader Aldi category page shows a 3.5/5 rating for the general Aldi Expressi listing. Older Cube, Wave and other editions should not be treated as evidence about EXP-19CCMB; model-specific pages include March 2019 and May 2019 machines.

If a pod jams or the machine leaks
- Stop using it if pressure builds, water leaks or operation becomes abnormal.
- Unplug it if you smell burning or suspect an electrical fault.
- Follow the manual’s cleaning and descaling instructions.
- Do not force the lever, put fingers near piercing blades or pre-puncture capsules.
- Use Aldi’s return or warranty process for repeated piercing, leaking or pump failures; keep the receipt.
Warranty and ownership checks
Before purchase, photograph the model number on the box and confirm the warranty period and claim process for that exact product. CHOICE’s buying-guide result reported a two-year warranty for an earlier Aldi Expressi Multi Beverage model, but that should not be assumed to be the current EXP-19CCMB warranty. Ask where returns are handled and whether replacements are available locally.

CHOICE provides broader capsule cost and compatibility context and explains why pod machines are convenient and generally cheaper to buy than manual machines, while costing more over time than beans or ground coffee.
Who should buy it?
It makes sense if you:
- Want the lowest practical upfront price.
- Shop at Aldi regularly and can obtain capsules reliably.
- Prefer quick espresso-style drinks with minimal preparation.
- Accept a separate frother for milk drinks.
- Understand that the award does not guarantee durability.
Choose something else if you:
- Need broad supermarket and online capsule choice.
- Want Nespresso Original or Vertuo compatibility.
- Make many drinks daily and cannot tolerate returns or replacements.
- Require automatic milk preparation.
- Prefer freshly ground beans or independently published test scores.
Verdict
Aldi Expressi is a compelling budget pod machine for an Aldi regular who wants cheap, fast coffee and accepts a restricted capsule system. Its 2024 Canstar Blue award is genuine, but it is a customer-satisfaction result from 2024—not proof that the current machine is Australia’s best all-round pod machine. Check the exact model, current pod supply, warranty terms and recent model-specific reliability feedback before paying.
