Airth lists its Air Purifier for Cooler at ₹2,099, but it is not a complete, standalone room purifier: it is a filter retrofit that relies on an existing air cooler’s fan to move air through the filter. The company’s “up to 450 sq. ft.” coverage and filtration figures are claims, not independently verified room-performance results. The global “world’s cheapest” ranking has not been established.
What Airth is selling
The Airth Air Purifier for Cooler is a filter assembly intended to fit over an air cooler’s inlet. The cooler’s fan draws air through the filter and sends it back into the room. The filter itself has no separate fan, motor, power supply, sensor or air-quality display; when the cooler is off, the Airth unit cannot circulate room air.
That makes it more accurate to think of it as an air-cooler retrofit filter than as a conventional standalone purifier. A complete room purifier has its own fan and designed airflow path. Airth’s product depends on the cooler’s airflow, the fit around the inlet and the condition of the filter.

The January 1, 2026 Gadgets To Use article called it the “world’s cheapest air purifier.” The accessible product information supports a low listed price in India, not an independently verified worldwide ranking. Price, availability and replacement cost
On August 16, 2026, Airth’s official listing showed the cooler purifier at ₹2,099, reduced from a listed ₹3,999, but marked out of stock. Treat both the price and stock status as a dated snapshot; check the product page for current availability before making a purchase decision.
Airth’s catalogue separately listed a winter HEPA replacement filter at ₹2,099 on that date—about the same as the observed initial product price. The filter’s stated life is 8–12 months, depending on conditions and use, so replacement cost is important to the long-term calculation. The company’s catalogue also listed a HEPA replacement at ₹1,199; confirm that a replacement listing is for the exact cooler model before ordering. Airth’s product catalogue showed those listings.

CADR, or clean air delivery rate, is a more useful way to compare delivered filtered air than room-area coverage alone. A coverage figure cannot tell you how quickly a particular room will be cleaned without knowing the airflow, room volume, leakage and test conditions.
How to install and run it
The January 2026 article describes an installation involving the cooler inlet grill. Use Airth’s current manual or installation video for model-specific instructions; this summary is not a replacement for them.

- Switch off and unplug the cooler, then remove its inlet grill according to the cooler maker’s instructions.
- Remove the existing mesh filters and clean the grill and accessible intake area.
- Position the Airth assembly at the inlet and reinstall the grill as directed.
- Check for gaps that could let air bypass the filter. The article describes sealing obvious gaps with tape; do not block the cooler’s intended airflow or interfere with moving parts.
- For filtration when cooling is not needed, run the cooler in fan mode. Airth says its winter fan-mode use is about 40 W; this is a company estimate for a cooler, not a measured figure for every model.
Airth says the product is compatible with “all Modern Cooler” models and lists dimensions of 2 cm depth × 20 cm width × 40 cm height. That wording is not a fit guarantee for every cooler in India. Measure the inlet and check the cooler’s airflow design before buying; do not force a filter into an opening that does not fit.
Airth says the external add-on does not interfere with cooler internals and will not void the cooler warranty. That is the manufacturer’s position, not a universal warranty determination. Keep the original grill and mesh filter, and check the cooler maker’s warranty terms.

What it may filter—and what is not established
Airth describes the H10 filter as intended to capture particulate pollution including PM2.5, PM10 and submicron particles. It also claims an antimicrobial coating and says it can deactivate bacteria, viruses and allergens. Treat both filtration and antimicrobial performance as manufacturer claims unless a relevant test report is available. Particle capture is not the same thing as antimicrobial activity, and neither claim establishes that the product eliminates infection risk or makes indoor air safe.
The accessible product information does not establish removal of gaseous pollutants such as volatile organic compounds, nitrogen dioxide or carbon monoxide. A particle filter is also not automatically an odor-control system; do not assume this product offers the gas or odor removal associated with suitable activated-carbon media.

How room performance can fall short
The cooler fan has to overcome the filter’s airflow resistance. A weak cooler, a loaded filter or a poor installation can reduce airflow and therefore the amount of filtered air returned to the room. Leakage around the filter lets some air bypass the media. More filtration material does not help if it chokes the airflow.
- Room size and leakage: A small, reasonably enclosed room is a more plausible use than a large open-plan area. Open doors and windows, high ceilings and outdoor-air infiltration can undermine the listed 450 sq. ft. upper limit.
- Filter and cooler condition: Clean the cooler before fitting the assembly. If airflow falls sharply, check for a clogged filter, blocked intake, incorrect placement or a fan that cannot move enough air through the media.
- Water pump: For winter filtration, Airth directs users to fan mode; do not assume the water pump needs to run when cooling is unnecessary.
- Measurement: The product has no built-in AQI display or PM2.5 sensor. A separate particle monitor can help assess whether readings change, but compare measurements under similar conditions and account for outdoor pollution entering the room.
- Filter care: The listing gives a replacement interval but does not establish that the media is washable or reusable. Do not wash it unless Airth’s current instructions explicitly permit it. Visible discoloration alone does not show how much filtration capacity remains.
Electricity use and recurring upkeep
Airth estimates about 40 W for a cooler running in winter fan mode. It also estimates that summer use may increase electricity cost by approximately 1%, stated on its page as ₹250 per month. These are company estimates; actual consumption and cost depend on the cooler, tariff, operating time and mode. The filter itself has no separate power source, but the cooler fan is not free to run.
The stated 8–12-month filter life should be treated as an estimate rather than a guarantee. Dustier conditions, heavier pollution and longer daily use can change how soon replacement is needed. With the winter replacement listed at ₹2,099 on August 16, 2026, a low initial price may not mean low ownership cost over several years.

The January 2026 article describes a DIY arrangement using a cardboard box, exhaust fan, HEPA filter, tape and a power connection. A low parts cost does not make that arrangement equivalent to a tested appliance: poor sealing can bypass the filter, and an improvised enclosure adds electrical, fire, fan-guard and noise risks. Do not build or operate one without a safely enclosed fan, suitable electrical protection and a secure filter fit.
If you already own a compatible cooler and mainly want particle filtration in a modest-sized room, Airth’s retrofit may be worth evaluating. If you need air cleaning when the cooler is off, built-in sensing, established performance data, or gas and odor filtration, a dedicated purifier designed for those needs is the more appropriate category to compare.
