Short answer: an AI music generator usually turns a prompt, lyric or idea into a finished song, while an AI music maker gives you parts you can arrange, edit and export. The distinction matters when you want a quick vocal demo versus MIDI, stems or a DAW-ready project that you can keep shaping. In practice, several tools combine both approaches.
Generator Vs. Maker: What The Terms Mean
AI music generator is the useful label for prompt-led output. You describe a mood, lyric, instrumentation or song idea and receive a rendered track. Suno and Musicful fit this pattern most clearly because they generate vocal or instrumental songs and let you revise them.
AI music maker is the better label when the tool exposes musical building blocks or production controls. Best Choice By The Job
Generate A Finished Vocal Song
Choose Suno when the starting point is a lyric, concept or production brief and you want vocals, instrumentation and a produced song in one workspace. Its editing tools let you extend a track, replace a section, remix it or export stems for later work. The Free Plan is useful for trying the workflow, but its tracks do not include commercial rights or stem separation. Pro starts at $8 per month and limits downloads to 20 songs per month; Suno Studio is available only on Premier.
Musicful follows a similar generator path but is especially practical if you move between web and mobile. It accepts text, lyrics, ideas or uploaded audio, then supports lyric edits, extensions and vocal or instrumental stem separation. It offers MP3 and WAV downloads. Commercial use is limited to Standard and Pro plans, while Free and Basic are non-commercial, so check the current plan terms before publishing.

Fadr is more of a separation and remix utility than a prompt-to-song generator. It can separate vocals, bass, drums, melodies and instrumental stems, then detect MIDI, chords, key and tempo for remix work. Basic includes basic stem separation, MP3 downloads, MIDI detection and Remix Maker. Plus costs $10 per month and adds 18 stem types, one-hour uploads, WAV downloads, a DAW Stems Plugin and API access.

Moises is useful when the maker task starts with an existing recording that must be split, practiced or rearranged.
