Overview

PlanHub is a construction preconstruction platform that brings project discovery, bidding, takeoff and estimation, and project management together. Its tools are intended for general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners and developers. For a building or renovation job, the platform is most relevant before and during bid coordination: contractors can find opportunities, invite bidders, compare bids, and share project documents, while subcontractors and suppliers can look for work in their markets.

PlanHub was founded by contractors in 2008, and the company says its digital marketplace began by 2015. It is headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. The platform offers a free plan and free-trial options, alongside paid plans whose prices vary by user type, territory, or custom requirements.

Key features

Find and manage project opportunities

Project discovery tools let users search and filter opportunities by trade, location, keywords, and other criteria. Alerts can notify users about relevant projects. General contractors can post projects, invite subcontractors to bid, manage bid activity, and use bid coverage features to track participation.

Compare bids and estimate work

Bid management includes bid leveling, which helps general contractors compare incoming bids. PlanHub also offers digital takeoff and estimation tools; its Estimation tool integrates with its Takeoff software. The available feature set varies across plans, so buyers should check which tools are included in the tier they are considering.

Share documents and connect business systems

Public and private planrooms provide a hub for storing and sharing project documents. The PlanHub API can connect project data with external CRM, estimating, ERP, and business intelligence tools. Higher-level offerings include API access or custom CRM options, depending on plan.

Network and support

PlanHub lists partnerships with construction associations and providers of business services, including financial services, payroll, and procurement. It also lists US-based sales and support at 1-866-752-6482. General Contractor Premier includes unlimited support tickets; that support allowance should not be assumed to apply to every plan.

Subcontractors can access the mobile app on Android and iOS. The platform also lists web, Android, iOS, and API availability. A stated user-seat limit is 5 users, although some plans have distinct seat allowances or unlimited seats.

Pricing

PlanHub uses a freemium pricing model. Essentials for General Contractors is free at 0.00 USD per free. It includes project posting, bid management, and basic bid leveling; estimation is a paid add-on.

Premier for Subcontractors is billed annually, with territory pricing based on radius: 50-mile radius $1,999 per year, 100-mile radius $2,349 per year, and 200-mile radius $3,299 per year. The annual subscription includes unlimited bids.

Prices are not listed for General Contractor Premier, General Contractor Pro, General Contractor Enterprise, Subcontractor Enterprise, Supplier Pro, or Supplier Nationwide. The plans have different seat counts and access: General Contractor Premier includes up to 10 seats, while Enterprise has unlimited seats; General Contractor Pro includes up to 5 seats. Subcontractor Enterprise is aimed at teams with 3+ users. Supplier Pro is an annual subscription with cost determined by geographic coverage and customized to the selected territory. Supplier Nationwide has customized pricing, covers projects and contractors across the PlanHub network, and includes 5 seats.

The supplier free trial has limited project file downloads. Supplier Pro includes unlimited downloads and broader directory access. Since several plan prices are not published and territory affects supplier and subcontractor access, confirm the current scope and cost directly with PlanHub before choosing a subscription.

Platforms

PlanHub is available on the web and through Android and iOS apps. Its subcontractor mobile app is available for Android and iOS. API access is also listed, with project data connections for external business systems available through the PlanHub API.

Who it's for

General contractors can use PlanHub to post projects, manage bids, level offers, invite subcontractors, and track bid coverage. The free Essentials plan provides a starting point for project posting and basic bid management; contractors needing features such as Lead Finder, Takeoff, advanced coverage, or API access may need a paid tier.

Subcontractors and suppliers can use project discovery and directory access to identify opportunities. The paid subcontractor Premier plan is territory-based and includes unlimited bids, while the supplier trial has limits on project file downloads. Owners and developers are also among the audiences PlanHub says it serves, though the listed plan details focus mainly on contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

For homeowners planning a renovation or build, PlanHub is not described as a materials directory. Its relevance is on the contractor side of a project: helping construction businesses find and coordinate bidding opportunities, rather than selecting roofing, windows, kitchens, or other products.

Pros and cons

Pros

A free General Contractor Essentials plan covers project posting, bid management, and basic bid leveling.
Project search, alerts, invitations, bid comparison, and planrooms address several steps in preconstruction coordination.
Takeoff and estimation tools are available, with the Estimation tool integrating with Takeoff.
API connections can bring project data into CRM, estimating, ERP, and business intelligence systems.
Mobile apps are available for subcontractors on Android and iOS.

Cons

Several plan prices are not listed, and supplier pricing depends on geographic coverage.
The supplier trial limits project file downloads; unlimited downloads are included with Supplier Pro.
Estimation is a paid add-on to the free General Contractor Essentials plan.
Plan details differ by audience and tier, so the listed 5-user limit does not describe every plan's seat allowance.

Verdict

PlanHub is a broad preconstruction platform for businesses that need project discovery and bid coordination alongside takeoff, estimation, planroom, and connection options. Its free General Contractor Essentials plan offers a defined set of basic bidding tools, while paid tiers add capabilities such as Lead Finder, wider directory access, API integrations, or expanded seats. The main buying considerations are that multiple prices are undisclosed, geographic scope affects some subscriptions, and trial downloads for suppliers are limited. Contractors should match the plan's coverage, seat allowance, and included tools to the way they pursue and manage work; homeowners looking for building materials will need a separate product directory.
