Some Samsung Blu-ray players have Bluetooth, but it is not standard across the range. The model number and regional suffix determine whether a player can transmit audio to headphones or speakers, receive music from a phone, or do neither. For example, Samsung lists Bluetooth transmission on the UBD-M7500 and UBD-M8500, both transmission and reception on the UBD-M9500, while Bluetooth audio is not listed in the BD-J5900 specification sheet.

These are model examples, not a guarantee for every suffix or country. Samsung’s Blu-ray products are older generations, and a specification page should not be treated as proof that a particular unit is still sold new or receives current app and firmware support.
Bluetooth Tx versus Bluetooth Rx
Bluetooth Tx: the player sends audio
Tx means transmitter. A player with Bluetooth Tx can send disc or streaming audio outward to compatible headphones, earbuds, speakers and, where supported, a soundbar or receiver. Tx alone does not mean a phone can send music into the player.

Rx means receiver. A player with Bluetooth Rx can accept audio from a phone, tablet or other Bluetooth source and pass it through the connected television, AV receiver, soundbar or stereo system. Samsung explicitly lists both Tx and Rx for the UBD-M9500.

How to check your exact Samsung player
- Record the complete model number. Check the front or rear label, original box, remote documentation or the player’s support menu. Keep the regional suffix, such as /ZA, /ZC, /XE or /XU.
- Open Samsung Support for that model and region. Use the model-specific specifications, manuals and downloads. The BD-J5900 support page illustrates why regional documentation matters.
- Search for the exact terms. Look for “Bluetooth Tx,” “Bluetooth Rx,” “Bluetooth Audio,” “Bluetooth Headphones,” “Bluetooth Speaker” or a Bluetooth device list.
- Confirm the manual’s pairing instructions. Menu labels and supported functions can vary by model, firmware and market.
Do not infer Bluetooth from Wi-Fi, Smart Hub, screen mirroring, wireless LAN, Anynet+ or a Bluetooth-enabled Samsung television connected by HDMI. Wi-Fi is used for networking; screen mirroring is a display function; Anynet+ is HDMI-CEC control. None proves that the Blu-ray player has Bluetooth audio.
Connecting Bluetooth headphones or a speaker
On a model whose documentation confirms Bluetooth Tx, use this model-qualified process:

- Put the headphones or speaker into Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Open the player’s audio or Bluetooth-device settings.
- Scan for available devices and select the correct device.
- Confirm pairing, start playback and check where sound is coming from.
- If audio remains on the television, select the Bluetooth output or adjust the player’s audio-output settings as described in the manual.
If the device is not found, move it close to the player, disconnect it from a phone or another source, restart both devices, and remove unused pairings if the player’s list is full. Also verify that the player has Tx—not only Rx—and that the headphones use a supported Bluetooth audio profile.

Can a phone stream music to a Samsung Blu-ray player?
Only a player with Bluetooth Rx is intended for this direction. On a documented Rx model such as the UBD-M9500, enable Bluetooth on the phone, put the player into receiving or pairing mode, select the player on the phone, and play music. The player must be connected to the television, receiver, soundbar or stereo system through the output you want to hear.

A player with Tx only can send audio out; it cannot ordinarily receive music from a phone. This is separate from pairing headphones for movie listening.
Bluetooth’s practical limits
- Latency: Bluetooth can produce lip-sync delay. Low-latency modes may help when both devices support them, but they do not guarantee perfect timing.
- Sound format: Ordinary Bluetooth listening is generally a stereo, compressed convenience connection. Do not assume Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio will remain full multichannel theatrical sound.
- Compatibility: Profiles, codecs, firmware and regional hardware can affect whether a device pairs and how it behaves. Samsung’s cited pages do not establish a universal codec, range or simultaneous-device limit for these models.
- Reliability: Interference, distance and a device still connected elsewhere can cause dropouts.
For lossless or immersive home theater, HDMI to a compatible AV receiver or soundbar remains the more appropriate connection. Optical can be useful for stereo or compressed surround, subject to its bandwidth limits.

What to do if your player has no Bluetooth
Use a standalone Bluetooth transmitter
Connect an audio transmitter to the player’s optical or analog stereo output, or use an HDMI audio extractor where necessary. Choose the input type your player actually provides, confirm support for your headphones’ codec, and consider low-latency support and one- versus two-headphone operation. A Bluetooth receiver is the wrong device for sending player audio to headphones.
Pair headphones with the television
If the television supports Bluetooth audio, pairing there may be simpler than adding hardware to the Blu-ray player. The television’s own latency and audio-format handling will then apply.

Stay wired for home theater
HDMI is the preferred route for modern surround systems. Optical or analog connections can be dependable alternatives when their format and bandwidth limits fit your system.
Buying an older Samsung player
Many Samsung Blu-ray models are discontinued or available mainly used or refurbished. Before buying, verify the exact suffix and power region, disc-region compatibility, included remote, return policy, physical condition, and whether the seller accepts returns. Confirm Bluetooth Tx or Rx in the matching manual rather than relying on a listing that says only “wireless” or “Bluetooth.” Also allow for aging apps, unavailable services and limited firmware support.
Samsung’s historic promotional material for models such as the UBD-M8500 and UBD-M9500 describes Bluetooth-related features, but it should not be read as evidence of current United States retail availability. Current official alternatives from Sony and Panasonic may be easier to purchase new, but their cited shop pages do not establish the same built-in Bluetooth headphone functions, so compare the exact specifications for your intended use.

The Bottom Line
The model number—not the Samsung brand—decides whether a Blu-ray player has Bluetooth. Check the full regional suffix and look specifically for Tx or Rx in Samsung’s matching specifications and manual. UBD-M7500, UBD-M8500 and UBD-M9500 documentation shows Bluetooth audio capability, while the BD-J5900 specification sheet lists Wi-Fi and screen mirroring but not Bluetooth audio.
