For TVs sold in the United States, Hisense is generally the stronger value choice for Mini-LED, big screens and Dolby Vision, while Samsung stands out for OLED, premium refinement and its connected-device ecosystem. The right comparison is between specific models at similar sizes and price points—not between brand names alone.
Hisense vs. Samsung at a glance
| What matters | Hisense | Samsung |
|---|---|---|
| Typical advantage | More screen or Mini-LED hardware for the money on selected models | OLED range, premium features and Samsung ecosystem integration |
| Display choices | LED, QLED and Mini-LED; availability and specifications depend on model | LED, QLED, Neo QLED Mini-LED and OLED |
| HDR formats | Dolby Vision is supported on relevant models; verify the exact model | HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG; mainstream Samsung TVs do not support Dolby Vision |
| Smart-TV software | Google TV, Fire TV or VIDAA, depending on model and suffix | Tizen/One UI, with Samsung TV Plus and Gaming Hub features |
| Best starting point | Value-focused Mini-LED, larger sizes and compatible Dolby Vision viewing | OLED, Samsung-connected homes and buyers seeking a premium feature set |
| Ownership check | Confirm warranty and platform for the exact US model | Confirm standard warranty; Care+ is a separate paid plan on some models |
Independent reviews describe both brands as competitive, with Hisense often offering strong performance at lower prices. Those broad assessments do not establish that every Hisense outperforms every Samsung; compare equivalent tiers and exact model specifications. See RTINGS’ Hisense coverage and Samsung coverage.
Which product lines should you compare?
Line names and specifications change by year, region and retailer. As a practical map, compare an entry-level Hisense LED or QLED with a Samsung Crystal UHD or lower QLED; compare a Hisense U6 with a similarly priced entry- or mid-range Samsung; and compare U7-class sets with Samsung Neo QLED models such as the QN70H or a comparable tier. Hisense U8-class sets belong against higher-end Samsung Mini-LED or OLED choices, depending on whether you are prioritizing brightness and size or pixel-level blacks.
For 2026, Hisense’s US announcement highlights U6 and U7 ULED Mini-LED ranges; U7 variants may use Google TV or Fire TV. Samsung’s announced US lineup includes QN70H and QN80H Neo QLED 4K models, M70H/M80H/M90H Mini-LED models, and S85H/S90H/S95H OLED models. Hisense has also been moving into RGB Mini-LED, but specific availability and specifications should be checked for the model being considered. Do not treat “QLED,” “ULED,” “Neo QLED” or “Mini-LED” as a quality score. Mini-LED describes a backlight approach, not guaranteed dimming precision: zone count, processing, uniformity and local-dimming control all affect the picture.
Picture quality: match the screen to the room
Bright rooms and HDR
Hisense Mini-LED models are attractive for daytime viewing, sports and HDR because selected sets combine high brightness with local dimming at value-oriented prices. Samsung Neo QLED models also target bright-room performance and reflection management. Do not choose from a peak-brightness headline alone: sustained brightness, tone mapping, black levels and accuracy in a cinema mode matter too. Aggressive brightness can clip highlights or make an image look artificial.
Dark-room movies
Samsung OLED is the clearer choice when cinematic black levels are the priority. Each OLED pixel can switch off independently, avoiding the conventional LCD backlight halo known as blooming. A Mini-LED Hisense can deliver strong contrast, but blooming may remain visible around white subtitles, credits, stars and bright interface elements on dark backgrounds.

Many LCD televisions lose contrast or color when viewed from the side, so wide seating calls for model-specific viewing-angle checks. OLED is often a safer starting point for a broad sofa, though exact performance still varies. For sports, motion processing and panel behavior matter alongside refresh-rate claims. For cable, broadcast and low-bitrate streams, upscaling and noise handling can affect the result as much as backlight hardware. Look for independent measurements of the exact model rather than assuming a whole brand processes every source equally.

- Ergonomically Designed: Work in tight areas with a compact design that gets into tough spots
- Compact and Lightweight: Both tools are designed to fit into difficult to reach spaces. The 1/4" impact driver has a length of 5.55 in. and weighs just 2.8 lbs, while the 1/2" drill/driver measures only 7.5 in. and weighs 3.6 lbs
- Both the DEWALT impact driver and electric drill driver feature integrated LED work lights with a convenient 20-second delay, ensuring enhanced visibility in dimly lit or challenging work areas
- One-Handed Loading - Keep one hand free with a 1/4 in. hex chuck that accepts 1 in. bit tips
- Power drill cordless with 1/2" single sleeve ratcheting chuck provides tight bit gripping strength, making bit changes faster and more secure
Panel uniformity can vary between units of the same model. Check a new set for distracting bands, blotches or dead pixels during the retailer’s return window, using ordinary viewing content as well as test images if desired.
HDR formats: Dolby Vision or HDR10+?
Samsung’s mainstream TVs support HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, but not Dolby Vision. Hisense models commonly include Dolby Vision alongside other HDR formats, but support varies by model and regional version. That matters if a large share of your streaming or disc library uses Dolby Vision; compatible Hisense sets can play that format, while a Samsung will use an available alternative format such as HDR10 where supported.
Dolby Vision support does not guarantee a better picture. The panel’s contrast, brightness, tone mapping and calibration still determine how the content looks. Nor should buyers assume that Dolby Vision works in every gaming or external-device configuration: check whether the exact model supports Dolby Vision playback, Dolby Vision gaming, or both. Independent format comparisons are discussed by TechRadar’s 75-inch TV guide and 65-inch TV guide.

Both brands have gaming-capable models, but features differ substantially within each lineup. Samsung’s 2026 QN80H lists 144Hz motion support, while its cited S95H OLED page lists Motion Xcelerator up to 165Hz. Those are model-specific manufacturer claims, not guarantees for every Samsung TV or every input configuration. Samsung also promotes Gaming Hub and FreeSync features on relevant models. Hisense’s ULED sets are positioned with HDMI 2.1, VRR and high refresh rates on selected models; exact port count and supported combinations must be checked.

Before buying for a console or PC, check the exact model’s specification sheet for:
- How many HDMI inputs support the bandwidth needed for your intended 4K high-refresh signal, and which inputs they are.
- Support for 4K at 120Hz or higher, the VRR range, ALLM, and any FreeSync or G-Sync compatibility you require.
- Whether eARC occupies an input you also need for high-bandwidth gaming, and whether HDR and VRR work together at your target resolution and refresh rate.
- Input lag measurements in the picture mode and signal format you plan to use; it varies by model and settings.
- Dolby Vision gaming support if that format is part of your setup, rather than assuming that streaming Dolby Vision support covers games.
If a 144Hz or 165Hz signal does not work as expected, check the cable rating, the selected HDMI input, Game Mode, the PC’s output settings, graphics-card capability and the TV’s supported resolution/refresh combinations. A cable or device limitation can prevent the advertised mode from being used.
Smart-TV software and updates
Samsung Tizen/One UI
Samsung’s current smart-TV platform is Tizen/One UI. Samsung promotes Samsung TV Plus, Gaming Hub and integration with SmartThings and its wider device ecosystem. Interface preferences are subjective; some viewers may find a feature-rich home screen busy. Samsung says selected 2026 OLED models receive up to seven years of OS updates. That commitment applies to selected models, not automatically to the entire Samsung range. Details are in Samsung’s 2026 OLED announcement.
Hisense: Google TV, Fire TV or VIDAA
Hisense does not have one universal US platform. The same family name can appear with different software variants: 2026 U7 models are announced with Google TV or Fire TV options, and Hisense listings also include VIDAA. Google TV suits buyers who value Google Assistant and content aggregation; Fire TV may suit households already using Amazon’s ecosystem. App availability and interface behavior vary by platform, and VIDAA’s catalog may differ from Google TV or Fire TV.

Before ordering either brand, use the full model number—not only the series name—to verify the operating system, regional version, tuner, HDR formats and HDMI configuration. Retailer-exclusive variants can have a similar title but different specifications. Check the manufacturer’s specification or support page for that exact number.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Large-screen value and installation
Hisense has a strong US large-screen proposition, with catalog listings that include 100-inch-class Mini-LED/QLED products. Samsung also offers very large Neo QLED sets: its 100-inch QN80H page lists a US price of $5,499.99. That is a manufacturer-listed price for that specific product, not a like-for-like price comparison with every Hisense model. Check current delivered prices for the same size and compare the actual model’s performance. Sources: Hisense’s Mini-LED/QLED listings and Samsung’s 100-inch QN80H page.
A larger screen may be the better use of a fixed budget, but include delivery and installation in the decision. Before choosing an 85-inch or larger TV, measure viewing distance, stand width or wall space, stair and doorway access, mount compatibility, wall strength and return logistics if the panel arrives damaged.

Warranty, reliability and support
The available evidence does not establish a comparable, current failure-rate dataset that proves one brand’s TVs last longer. Avoid treating online owner complaints as a brand-wide failure statistic. For the particular set, compare the standard manufacturer warranty, exclusions, dead-pixel policy, local service availability, retailer return period and any protection plan’s actual coverage.

- Clog resistant tip writes on dusty, wet and oily surfaces and is optimized for rough surfaces such as OSB, cinderblock and concrete

Hisense’s US television category pages display a two-year warranty signal, but buyers should confirm the terms for the exact model, seller and purchase conditions. Samsung offers paid Care+ on at least some current models; that is separate from the standard warranty. The QN80H product page listed Care+ at $199.99 for two years and $269.99 for four years, prices that may vary by product, eligibility or promotion. Read the product’s terms rather than assuming those plan prices apply to another TV. Sources: Hisense’s US TV category and Samsung’s QN80H page.
OLED buyers who leave static dashboards, news tickers, game HUDs or desktop elements on screen for long sessions should consider their usage pattern, panel-protection features and warranty exclusions before choosing OLED over Mini-LED.
Sound and ecosystem
Samsung’s QN80H product listing promotes Dolby Atmos, Object Tracking Sound Lite and Q-Symphony, which coordinates compatible Samsung TV and soundbar speakers. That integration can matter if a Samsung soundbar is already part of the plan. Hisense’s 2026 ULED announcement also highlights Dolby Atmos on relevant products. In either case, check eARC support and the formats your sound system can pass through; built-in TV speakers rarely replace a soundbar or AV receiver for serious home-theater sound.
Which brand fits your priorities?
- Value Mini-LED or the biggest screen for the budget: Start with Hisense U-series models, then verify the exact panel, gaming inputs, platform and price.
- Dolby Vision streaming: Choose a Hisense model that explicitly lists Dolby Vision for your region and intended playback method.
- Dark-room movies and OLED blacks: Start with Samsung OLED, while considering static-content use and coverage terms.
- Bright-room viewing: Compare Hisense Mini-LED with Samsung Neo QLED at the same size; reflection handling and sustained brightness are model-specific.
- Samsung smart-home or soundbar integration: Samsung may be the more coherent fit if SmartThings, Gaming Hub, TV Plus or Q-Symphony matter to your setup.
- Unusual priority such as wide viewing angles or another OLED price/performance balance: It may be worth comparing LG or TCL rather than forcing a choice between these two brands.
How to compare two exact TVs before buying
- Match the models: Record full model number, year suffix, size and regional/retailer variant. Do not rely on a shortened listing title.
- Check the panel and backlight: Identify OLED versus LCD, local dimming availability and independent reviews of contrast, blooming, uniformity and viewing angles.
- Confirm HDR and software: Verify Dolby Vision/HDR10+/HDR10 support and the exact OS variant and update commitment.
- Map gaming inputs: Confirm HDMI 2.1 port count and location, 4K high-refresh modes, VRR, ALLM and whether eARC shares a needed port.
- Check intended use: Consider room brightness, seating width, sports/motion, low-quality sources, static gaming or desktop content, and sound-system requirements.
- Compare ownership costs: Use the current price for the same screen size, then add delivery, mounting, sound and any protection plan you genuinely need. Check return terms and standard warranty coverage.
For Samsung’s 2026 examples, the 75-inch QN80H page lists Quantum Mini LED, full-array backlighting and 144Hz motion support; the 83-inch S95H page lists up to 165Hz Motion Xcelerator. Treat these as specifications for those cited models, not brand-wide features.
