There is no independent ranking proving which paint colors will be the biggest sellers in 2026. The strongest signals are manufacturers’ own Color of the Year announcements and forecast palettes. Based on those releases, these seven shades are credible candidates for next year’s interiors—not a verified popularity list.
What “huge in 2026” really means
Paint brands publish annual forecasts to show the moods and color families they expect designers and homeowners to consider. They are useful trend signals, but they are not the same as nationwide sales data or an independent consumer survey.
Sherwin-Williams’ 2026 Colormix forecast contains 48 shades, according to reporting by Homes & Gardens and Axios. That number describes the size of the forecast, not the number of colors proven popular. Likewise, Behr’s 2025 Rumors was its top-selling non-neutral color in four states, according to data the company shared with Axios; that historical result cannot establish which color will lead sales in 2026.

1. Silhouette AF-655 — Benjamin Moore
Benjamin Moore selected Silhouette AF-655 as its 2026 Color of the Year. The company characterizes it as an espresso shade with charcoal notes, giving it substantially more visual weight than a conventional beige or gray. It suits millwork, libraries, dining rooms and cabinetry when you want a grounded, tailored effect.

Sherwin-Williams chose Universal Khaki SW 6150 as its 2026 Color of the Year. The brand describes it as a mid-tone neutral with a slight yellow undertone. Sue Wadden, Sherwin-Williams’ director of color marketing, calls it an “easygoing neutral” that works with natural finishes, crisp whites and stronger accent colors.

3. Hidden Gem — Behr
Behr named Hidden Gem its 2026 Color of the Year. The cleanly corroborated announcement establishes the color name; the available material does not establish a dependable code or a technical undertone description, so those details should be confirmed on Behr’s current product page or a physical chip before ordering.
Use the same sampling discipline you would apply to any saturated or complex color: view it on the actual wall at morning, midday and evening rather than judging a small digital swatch.

4. Warm Eucalyptus 8004-28F — Valspar
Valspar’s 2026 Color of the Year is Warm Eucalyptus 8004-28F. The code identifies the shade for sampling and ordering. Valspar provides a color chip and an online buying route through Lowe’s.

Henna Shade SW 6326 appears among Sherwin-Williams’ forecast shades for 2026 and beyond. Its red-brown position gives a room more warmth and personality than a standard neutral. 7. A Sherwin-Williams Anthology: Volume Two forecast hue
Sherwin-Williams separately presents Anthology: Volume Two as a broader four-palette forecast for 2026 and beyond. The forecast contains additional named colors beyond Universal Khaki and Henna Shade, but the available source material does not provide a verified name-and-code pair for one further shade.
That distinction matters: choose the exact color from Sherwin-Williams’ current Anthology palette rather than relying on a social-media image or an approximate online description.

How to choose one for your room
- Start with permanent elements. Compare the paint with flooring, worktops, tile, stone, upholstery and wood. A warm neutral can look pink, yellow or gray depending on what surrounds it.
- Sample on a large surface. Use the manufacturer’s physical chip, peel-and-stick sample or paint sample. Digital visualizers are useful for narrowing options, not for final color approval.
- Move the sample around. Check at least one wall facing the main window and one shaded wall. Observe it in daylight and under the lights you use at night.
- Check the finish separately. Sheen changes how much light the wall reflects. A color that feels calm in matte can appear brighter in an eggshell or satin finish.
- Buy only after confirmation. Verify the current code, base, finish and retailer availability; formulas, stock and regional availability can change.
What these forecasts do—and do not—tell you
- They show where major brands are directing attention for 2026.
- They do not prove that these seven shades will be the year’s best sellers.
- They do not replace a room-specific sample under real lighting.
- They do suggest a broader movement toward warm browns, khaki neutrals, muted greens and earthy red-browns rather than an exclusive return to cool gray.
A practical recommendation for construction projects
For a whole-home or renovation specification, begin with Universal Khaki or another verified warm neutral when flexibility is the priority. Choose Silhouette or Henna Shade when the design calls for depth and contrast. Consider Warm Eucalyptus when you want a quieter nature reference. Hidden Gem and any unverified companion-palette choice should remain sample-led until the exact product information and undertone are confirmed.
