Pool noodles make a lightweight, flexible base for rings, garlands, candy-shop props, candles, signs and whimsical figures. The 65 pool noodle Christmas decorations below are organized by build type so you can choose a quick no-cut project, a fabric finish, a heavily ornamented wreath or a yard-scale display.
Before you start: choose the right build
A noodle can be bent into a ring, left as a long spine, cut into sections or reinforced with tape, wire, dowel or a board. Use indoor versions for delicate fabric, paper and battery lights; secure every outdoor piece against wind and moisture.

Materials and safety
- Pool noodles for Christmas crafts, plus duct or cloth tape.
- Low-temperature glue gun, ribbon, garland, artificial greenery and ornaments.
- Craft or hobby wire, pliers, gloves and safety goggles.
- Battery tea lights or fairy lights; avoid open flames inside foam.
- For specialist builds: a 7/8-inch dowel, batting, sewn fabric, a 9×9-inch pine board, chalk paint, buffalo snow, puffy paint and glitter.
Wear gloves and eye protection when cutting or threading wire, then tape every exposed end. Keep cutters and glue guns away from children; Armacell specifically says its ornament-wreath activity is not recommended for kids. Do it Best warns that hot glue melts pool noodle foam, although it can be used on fabric, so test adhesives on scrap and let every joint cure before hanging.

1. Classic greenery wreath
Join two noodle ends with tape, wrap the ring in jute webbing, then hot-glue artificial ivy, baubles or dried branches; wind fairy lights around it and hide the battery pack behind the wreath, following Bunnings’ method.

2. 150-ornament wreath
Cover a taped ring with roughly 150 round ornaments, placing the largest first and filling gaps with smaller ones; Armacell recommends the coolest glue-gun setting.
3. Candy-cane wreath
Wrap the ring in alternating red and white tape, add a striped bow and finish the edge with peppermint-colored ribbon.
4. Ribbon-only wreath
Wind wide satin, burlap and velvet ribbons around the noodle so the foam disappears, then pin one oversized bow at the bottom.
5. Fabric-and-card-bell wreath
Join a full-length noodle around a 7/8-inch dowel, add batting and sewn Christmas fabric, then hang recycled card-front bells with yarn and a pop tab as described by Do it Best.
6. JOY-letter wreath
Wrap the ring in greenery and suspend lightweight J, O and Y letters across the opening on ribbon.
7. Snow-dusted wreath
Cover the noodle with white fleece, tuck in frosted branches and brush the finished greenery with artificial snow.
8. Monochrome wreath
Use one color of tape, ribbon and ornaments—such as silver, white or red—for a clean, coordinated door.

9. Rustic twig wreath
Wrap with jute, layer dried twigs and pinecones over the front and secure the heavier pieces with wire rather than relying on foam.
10. Bow-heavy wreath
Make several small loops from wired ribbon, cluster them around the ring and leave greenery as a narrow accent.
11. Lighted window wreath
Use a slim ring on an interior window, thread battery fairy lights through the opening and attach the switch where it remains reachable.
12. Seasonal-change wreath
Cover the noodle with removable fabric or hook-and-loop ribbon so the same base can be restyled for Christmas, winter or another season.

15. Banister-spindle sleeves
Cut short sections, slit each lengthwise and snap them around individual spindles before wrapping with ribbon.
16. Doorway swag
Bend a noodle into a shallow inverted U above the door and cover it with greenery, bows and lightweight ornaments.

17. Porch-rail garland
Wrap an outdoor-rated foliage strand around a noodle, tape the ends and tie the assembly to the rail against wind.
18. Table-runner base
Place a straight noodle beneath a fabric runner to create a raised center for greenery and battery lights.
19. Window-frame trim
Cut four straight pieces to frame a window, join the corners with tape and hide the seams under bows.
20. Door-corner curves
Bend short lengths around two upper door corners to create matching scrolls without covering the hinges.

25. Straight candy canes
Wrap long noodle lengths in red-and-white spiral tape, add a wire or dowel core if needed, bend the top and stake the base outdoors.
26. Giant lollipops
Roll a taped noodle into a circle, thread wire through it, attach a noodle stick and tape the wire ends; Bunnings advises safety goggles when handling the wire.

27. Peppermint disks
Cut thick slices, cover each face with concentric red-and-white tape and mount the disks to a weather-resistant board.
28. Striped swirl poles
Keep the noodle straight, spiral contrasting tape from end to end and cap it with a foam ball or oversized bow.
29. Candy lamp
For DIY Joy’s version, cut red noodle pieces to 3-foot lengths, arrange them around a 9×9-inch pine board, paint the board white and add buffalo snow, puffy paint and glitter.
30. Gumdrop clusters
Cut short foam rounds, cover them in bright fabric or paint and group them on a low outdoor base.
31. Gingerbread trim
Wrap a noodle in brown paper or fabric, add white puffy-paint icing lines and attach foam “gumdrops.”

32. Wrapped-candy bundles
Bundle several short noodle pieces, cover them in cellophane-style fabric and twist ribbon at both ends.
33. Candy-cane arch
Pair two striped noodles as uprights, curve matching tops toward the center and brace the feet to a board.
34. Sweets sign
Mount a taped noodle border around a painted board reading “SWEETS,” then add lollipops and peppermint disks around the frame.

Use identical short sections as holders along a sill, spacing them evenly and keeping switches accessible.
