Xiaomi announced the Mijia Smart Microwave-Grill All-in-One Machine in China on August 7, 2020. It was scheduled to go on sale on August 11 at 10:00 a.m. China time for 549 yuan—about $78–$79 at the exchange rate used in contemporary reports. That was a historical launch price, not a current U.S. retail price.
Although some English-language coverage called it a “convection microwave oven,” Xiaomi’s Chinese description and the reported hardware establish a microwave-and-quartz-grill combination. The available launch material does not clearly confirm a fan-assisted convection system.

The date, sale time and price were reported by Kuaitech (驱动之家); the English “convection” label and 23-liter summary appeared in Gizmochina’s launch coverage.

Microwave heating and reheating
The microwave function covered ordinary reheating and cooking. Launch coverage also described steaming and boiling functions, making the unit more versatile than a basic reheating-only microwave.

Quartz-tube grilling
Quartz heating tubes supplied the reported 1,000W grilling function for browning and barbecue-style cooking. A quartz grill can add surface color and crispness, but that does not make the appliance equivalent to a full-size oven.
Flat-plate heating and defrosting
The reported microcrystalline flat heating plate was part of the appliance’s multi-mode heating design. Three thawing modes were also advertised, allowing users to select a defrost program rather than relying only on timed manual heating.
Recipes and claimed sterilization
Chinese launch coverage listed 15 built-in recipes and 25 additional smart recipes. It also mentioned microwave and light-wave sterilization claims. Those statements describe launch-era product claims, not independent validation of sanitation performance.

Why “convection” is an uncertain description
The English headline used “Convection Microwave Oven,” but the Chinese product name, 微烤一体机, translates more directly as a microwave-grill all-in-one machine. The reported components are microwave heating, quartz tubes and a microcrystalline plate. None of the reviewed launch material clearly confirms a conventional fan-driven convection mode.
That distinction matters. Convection ovens circulate heated air, which affects baking, roasting and temperature uniformity. This Xiaomi appliance was documented as a microwave with grilling and other heating functions; its launch reports do not establish the airflow, baking performance or temperature control expected from a dedicated convection oven.
Controls and industrial design
Reports described an all-white body with a minimalist front panel, two touch buttons and one multifunction rotary knob. A one-button quick-heating function was intended for routine reheating, and cooking time could be adjusted while the appliance was operating.

The design resembled Xiaomi’s earlier microwave, with the Mijia ecosystem adding app-based control rather than changing the basic countertop format.
What the smart features promised
- Wi-Fi connection to the Mijia app.
- Remote control through the app.
- Xiao Ai voice commands.
- Recipe instructions, ingredient guidance and cooking steps.
- 15 built-in recipes plus 25 additional smart recipes, according to Chinese coverage.
These were launch-era China-market claims. The reports do not establish that the servers, recipe library, Xiao Ai commands or remote operation still work, or that they support global Xiaomi accounts outside mainland China.
Launch specifications versus later Xiaomi microwave documents
Do not merge this 2020 model with Xiaomi’s differently marketed global microwave. Xiaomi’s current global product page describes a 20-liter microwave with 700W output and five power levels: Xiaomi Microwave Oven. Its official FAQ lists 220–230V, 50Hz operation, 1,100W rated input, dimensions of 456 × 343 × 264 mm and a 10.9kg net weight: Xiaomi’s global FAQ.

Those figures should not be substituted for the 2020 launch reports’ 23-liter capacity, 800W microwave output and 1,000W grill output. Xiaomi has released multiple microwave products under similar English names, and the model identity must be checked before comparing specifications.

It was a China launch, not a confirmed U.S. release
The 549-yuan amount was the announced Chinese launch price. It was never evidence of a $78 U.S. retail product, and currency conversions from 2020 should not be treated as a present-day price.

There is no dependable current official listing in the supplied evidence
The Xiaomi shop URL associated with the product identifier now redirects to a Xiaomi 15 purchase page rather than a live listing for this microwave: Xiaomi shop result. That redirect is not proof that every unit has disappeared, but it means the original official page is not a reliable current buying route.

Electrical and service risks
Before importing any Chinese-market countertop appliance, confirm voltage, frequency, plug and grounding requirements. Also check warranty territory, replacement parts, return eligibility and whether Mijia and Xiao Ai services function in the buyer’s region. A plug adapter cannot safely convert an appliance designed for a different voltage.

For a small apartment or a Xiaomi ecosystem user in China, combining microwave and grilling could save counter space. It is less compelling for someone specifically seeking verified convection baking, current U.S. support or a straightforward warranty.
Safety points for any microwave-grill appliance
Xiaomi’s general microwave guidance says to use microwave-safe containers, avoid metal utensils and metallic trim, never run the oven empty, and keep the door fully closed. Foods such as potatoes, chestnuts and sausages should be pierced; eggs in their shells and whole hard-boiled eggs should not be heated. Maintain the specified ventilation clearance and do not operate the appliance inside a cabinet. The guidance is published for Xiaomi’s current microwave range and may not map perfectly to every 2020 model, so the model’s own manual remains authoritative.
Bottom line for buyers today
The Mijia Smart Microwave-Grill All-in-One Machine was a real Xiaomi product launched in China in August 2020 at 549 yuan. Its documented identity is a 23-liter microwave-grill combination with reported 800W microwave power, 1,000W quartz grilling, app control and Xiao Ai integration—not a proven fan-assisted convection oven. Treat the price, recipe service and smart features as historical launch information. Anyone considering an import should first verify the exact model, electrical compatibility, regional software support and current seller warranty.
