If your RYOBI mower matches the recall’s model and serial-number criteria, stop using it immediately. The February 6, 2025, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall covers certain 40-volt brushless 21-inch cordless walk-behind mowers because a connector inside the powerhead can overheat and pose a fire hazard. TTI Outdoor Power Equipment is offering owners of affected mowers a free replacement; you do not need to buy one.
Is your RYOBI lawn mower recalled?
Check both the mower’s complete model number and serial number. The CPSC lists these U.S. models: RY401014BTLUS, RY401014US, RY401140US, RY401015BTLUS, RY401015US, RY401150US, RY401140US-Y, RY401150US-Y, RY401020 and RY401200. The listed serial-number range is KC21032D010001 through KC21327N999999. The identifiers are inside the green mower housing. See the CPSC recall notice.
Do not decide eligibility from the mower’s color or general appearance. RYOBI’s current recall notices page displays a broader model list than the CPSC notice, and the pages do not explain the difference. If your numbers are unclear or the lists appear inconsistent, submit both identifiers through RYOBI’s current recall process or contact TTI to confirm eligibility.
What is the hazard?
A push-on connector inside the mower’s powerhead can overheat, creating a fire hazard. In its February 6, 2025, notice, the CPSC reported 97 overheating incidents, including five fires, and two minor burn injuries. The recall covers about 217,500 units in the United States and about 28,400 in Canada. Affected mowers were sold from February 2021 through January 2025 for $500 to $700, according to the CPSC; those sales dates and prices are context, not a substitute for checking the model and serial numbers.

What to do if your mower matches
- Stop using it immediately. Do not continue mowing while you wait for a response.
- Contact TTI Outdoor Power Equipment through the current RYOBI recall process. The CPSC notice also lists 800-597-9624, available 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time, and directs owners to RYOBI’s recall information.
- Follow TTI’s instructions to disable the mower. Do not attempt to improvise a repair or keep operating it while awaiting instructions.
- Submit the information requested to arrange the free replacement. RYOBI’s recall support form requests your name, contact and address details, and mower model and serial numbers. It also asks whether you need a shipping box and whether you can receive a shipping label by email.
The remedy described by the CPSC is a free replacement 21-inch walk-behind mower. The reviewed claim form does not specify an expected delivery time or establish whether proof of purchase is required, so confirm any claim requirements directly through the current recall process.

- CPSC recall notice: official listed models, serial range, hazard and remedy.
- RYOBI recall notices: current RYOBI recall information and the route to recall support. Reconfirm eligibility with TTI if the displayed model list differs from the CPSC criteria.
