For a lyrics-first song, write and label the words before you generate audio, then use a generator that explicitly accepts lyrics or creates them. Make one controlled change per generation—such as the vocal delivery or arrangement—so you can tell whether the words or the music need work.
Prepare Lyrics That Can Be Sung
Before opening a generator, put the lyrics in a plain text document. Give each section a label and keep each sung line separate. A compact structure is easier to review than a wall of text:
- Verse 1: Set the scene and introduce the idea.
- Chorus: State the central phrase clearly and repeat it consistently.
- Verse 2: Add a new detail or turn, rather than restating Verse 1.
- Bridge: Change the point of view or emotional direction, if the song needs one.
Read the lines aloud at a steady pace. If a line is hard to say in one breath, simplify it or divide it. Keep a repeated chorus identical while comparing generations; changing the words and the music together makes it harder to identify what helped.

Turn The Lyric Sheet Into A First Draft
- Pick one generator. Choose from the table based on whether you want a sung melody draft, lyric-based full-song generation, or later editing. Do not assume a feature is available on every plan; check the product site.
- Paste only the lyrics and section labels first. Keep your wording fixed for this pass. If the interface asks for a style or sound description, use a short, concrete prompt such as: “Mid-tempo acoustic pop, intimate lead vocal, restrained verse, fuller repeated chorus, clear diction.” This is a prompt example, not a claim that any product guarantees those results.
- Generate a draft and listen for word fit. Check whether the vocal finishes each line naturally, whether the chorus phrase is understandable, and whether repeated lines remain consistent. Note the exact line or section that needs attention.
- Change one thing per revision. If the words feel crowded, shorten that line in your lyric document and regenerate. If the words are clear but the mood is wrong, keep the lyrics fixed and adjust the sound description. Save versions with notes such as “shorter verse line” or “softer chorus” so you can compare the change.
- Refine only the weak section when the product supports it. Suno lists section replacement and editing; Eleven Music lists section editing and inpainting; Udio lists lyric editing and timeline editing. The descriptions do not promise identical controls, so follow the current interface and verify what it allows.
- Export or continue editing only after the lyric works. LyricToMelody AI lists MIDI, audio, and separate stem exports. Other products list differing export or editing features in their descriptions; confirm the format and availability you need on the product site.
Use A Focused Vocal Tool When The Words Are Set
