To make lo-fi music with AI, generate a mellow instrumental draft, set a relaxed tempo and dusty texture in the prompt, then refine the drums, chords, and arrangement in an editor. For the most control over a finished beat, start in Beat Shaper; for a fast mobile-friendly instrumental draft, use Soundverse AI Beat Maker. The steps below take you from a clear idea to an exported track you can play on your phone, smart speaker, or in a DAW.
Choose A Starting Point
Lo-fi is a production direction rather than a single control. Aim for a steady, unhurried groove, soft drums, warm chords, restrained melody, and a little texture. Those are creative choices for your prompt and edits, not guaranteed presets. Pick the workflow based on whether you want a complete instrumental to shape or a beat sketch to build on.

Make A Lo-Fi Track Step By Step
- Write a production brief. Before opening a generator, decide what the track should feel like and where you will use it. A useful starting brief is: “instrumental lo-fi hip-hop, relaxed and reflective, soft dusty drum groove, warm electric-piano chords, rounded bass, sparse mellow melody, subtle tape-like texture, no vocals, no dramatic drops.” Add a scene such as late-night study or rainy window only if it helps guide the mood. Avoid naming artists or asking for a close imitation; describe the musical traits you want instead.
- Generate the first draft in Soundverse AI Beat Maker. Open its beat maker, choose an instrumental direction, and enter your brief. Ask for a complete, restrained arrangement rather than a loop if you want a track with development. Generate a small number of alternatives and listen through each one from beginning to end. Keep the version whose groove and harmony work; a polished-sounding opening is not enough if the middle becomes busy or the ending feels abrupt.
- Build or replace the drums in Beat Shaper. If the generated drums feel too rigid or dense, use Beat Shaper to make editable drum parts. Set a mellow mood and low energy, then adjust syncopation until the rhythm feels relaxed without losing its pulse. Use the piano roll to revise notes and timing. Keep the kick and snare pattern simple, and make small changes to hats or percussion so the groove has movement. Do not add fills to every bar; a few well-placed changes preserve the laid-back feel.
- Try a drum-only sketch in Beatmaker Studio when you want a clean pattern. Enter a text description of the drum groove, inspect the generated 16-step pattern, and edit the hits that feel too busy. Export MIDI if you want to edit the pattern in a DAW, or WAV if you want an audio part. Since Beatmaker Studio focuses on drum patterns, combine its output with harmony and melody elsewhere rather than expecting it to create the complete song.
- Shape the harmony and lead. Return to the full instrumental in Soundverse AI Beat Maker or use Beat Shaper’s generated basslines, synths, loops, and arrangements as editable material. Keep one main chord texture and one short melodic idea in focus. If a lead competes with the chords, lower its prominence in the arrangement or remove it. A repeating phrase can suit lo-fi; small variations in note choice or placement are enough to keep a longer passage from feeling static.
- Arrange for listening, not just generation. Listen on headphones, then on the speaker you expect to use, such as a phone or smart speaker. Check whether the opening establishes the mood quickly, whether any part distracts from the groove, and whether the ending gives the music a deliberate stopping point. Use Beat Shaper’s arrangement controls or Soundverse’s multitrack studio to remove unnecessary layers and adjust the section flow. The listed tools establish arrangement and editing capabilities, but do not establish a particular mastering target or loudness setting.
- Export the version you can actually use. In Beat Shaper, choose the format that matches your next step: MIDI for editable notes, WAV or MP3 for listening, stems for separated parts, or a DAW project where your plan supports it. Starter downloads are limited to MP3 and non-commercial use; Ableton Live project export and real-time MIDI require Producer. Soundverse AI Beat Maker supports WAV mixes, separated stems, and MIDI for further editing. Beatmaker Studio exports drum patterns as MIDI or WAV. Check the vendor’s current plan terms for available export formats before building your workflow around one.
Check The Rights Before Sharing
Keep the track private while you decide how you will use it. Beat Shaper’s Starter downloads are stated to be non-commercial; its Creator plan lists commercial usage rights. Soundverse AI Beat Maker lists commercial licenses for Creator & Pro. Beatmaker Studio’s supplied details do not establish commercial-use terms. For any public release, monetized video, or other commercial use, check the relevant vendor terms for the plan you used and confirm the permission covers your specific use. If your project includes a voice, a cover, or samples you supplied, get the necessary consent for the material and review the platform’s terms before publishing.

Fix Common Lo-Fi Problems
- The result sounds too bright or energetic: Regenerate with softer drums, lower energy, fewer percussion changes, and a restrained melody. In Beat Shaper, reduce energy or syncopation and edit the parts that push the groove forward too much.
- The track feels like a loop with no shape: Ask Soundverse AI Beat Maker for a complete arrangement, then remove or vary layers by section. A generated full instrumental is a starting arrangement; listen through and make sure it develops and ends as you intend.
- The drums dominate the chords: Simplify the pattern in Beat Shaper or Beatmaker Studio, then listen again at a comfortable volume. Edit the pattern and arrangement rather than adding more layers to hide the imbalance.
- You cannot continue editing the export: Choose MIDI or stems where available, instead of relying only on a mixed audio file. Confirm the format is included in your plan before generating a track you intend to develop in a DAW.

Start with one brief and one instrumental draft in Soundverse AI Beat Maker. If the song works but the rhythm needs attention, refine the beat in Beat Shaper; if you only need a drum pattern, sketch it in Beatmaker Studio.
