The Amazon Ember Artline is now a real, shippable rival to Samsung’s The Frame. It combines a matte 4K QLED television with Fire TV, Alexa+, Ambient Experience and a framed-art presentation. In the US it starts at $899.99, with 55-inch and 65-inch versions shipping in the US and Canada from April 22, 2026, and in the UK and Germany from May 7, 2026. That makes it a credible lifestyle-TV alternative, particularly for Alexa households and bright rooms—but not yet a proven picture-quality or gaming winner.
What the Ember Artline is
Amazon describes the Artline as its first lifestyle TV. Unlike a conventional Fire TV with a decorative bezel, it is designed to stay visually acceptable on the wall when you are not watching a programme. Its approximately 1.5-inch-thick body uses a matte 4K QLED panel intended to reduce reflections, while magnetic frames are available in ten adjustable colours.
The television runs Fire TV and supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Wi-Fi 6. Far-field microphones enable hands-free Alexa+ commands, and Amazon’s Omnisense presence sensing is designed to start or stop the Ambient Experience as people enter or leave the room. The exact thickness measurement should be confirmed against the final wall-mounted assembly.

Amazon’s “starting at” wording means $899.99 should not be treated as the price of both sizes; the 65-inch model’s live regional price must be checked before ordering. Promotions, VAT and retailer pricing can change.

The art experience
Art is the product’s main reason to exist. Amazon says the Artline includes more than 2,000 works at no additional art subscription cost, spanning categories such as Impressionism, contemporary art, street art, murals, mixed media and photography. It also commissioned 60 exclusive motion-video works from documentary filmmaker Sam Nuttmann.
- Amazon Photos: display personal images full-screen, create collages and request slideshows with Alexa+.
- Match the Room: upload up to four room photos and receive recommendations based on colours, décor, style and recurring themes.
- Ambient Experience: Omnisense is designed to activate or stop the artwork display as people arrive or leave. This is not necessarily the same as powering the entire television off.
- Voice control: Alexa+ can be asked to show artwork, memories or photo slideshows, subject to regional language, account and feature availability.
Amazon calls the presentation gallery-like, but that is a marketing description rather than an independent measurement. A matte coating can make a bright room more comfortable, yet it does not remove every reflection and may reduce perceived contrast or fine detail compared with a glossy panel.

What Fire TV adds
The Artline remains a full smart TV rather than a passive digital picture frame. The redesigned Fire TV interface provides app access plus dedicated areas for films, television, news, live programming and sport. Long-pressing the Home button opens a shortcut panel for audio and display controls, Ring cameras and compatible smart-home devices. A redesigned Fire TV mobile app supports browsing, watchlists and playback selection.
Alexa+ is marketed as a more conversational assistant for finding and controlling content. Availability and capabilities vary by country, language and account. Streaming services may require their own subscriptions; Amazon’s included art collection is the part advertised as subscription-free.

Amazon’s launch positioning suggested a lower starting price than a comparable Frame, but “cheaper” is only meaningful when the same size, market, date and list-or-sale price are compared. The Frame has had more time to refine its mounting, frames and art experience. No evidence here establishes that either television has better reflection handling or image quality.

Specifications still to confirm
Amazon’s announcements do not establish the Artline’s refresh rate, peak brightness, local-dimming behaviour, viewing angles, processor, HDMI count or HDMI 2.1 support, VRR, ALLM, input lag, speaker configuration, VESA pattern, included mount, power consumption, warranty or panel uniformity. Those omissions matter to gamers and anyone comparing it with an OLED or high-end mini-LED TV. Wait for the regional product specification page and independent testing before treating it as a performance-TV purchase.
Installation and privacy considerations
A wall-art television demands more planning than a set on a stand: check wall strength, viewing height, cable routing, frame alignment and access to power and HDMI connections. Amazon announced limited-time discounted US wall-mounting services for checkout later in May 2026; current service availability and pricing must be verified at purchase.
The Artline includes far-field microphones and presence sensing. Before enabling hands-free features, review Amazon’s current controls for microphones, Omnisense, Match the Room and data handling. The launch material does not provide a universal microphone-disable procedure, so buyers should not assume one.

Who should buy it?
- Choose the Artline if you want a framed-wall appearance, use Fire TV, Alexa, Ring or Amazon Photos, and value included artwork without a separate art subscription.
- Consider The Frame if Samsung’s frames, mounting system, art catalogue or SmartThings integration better suit your room, or if you prefer a more established lifestyle-TV platform.
- Choose a conventional OLED or mini-LED if movie, sports or gaming performance matters more than how the screen looks when idle.
- Skip or delay a purchase if you require confirmed HDMI 2.1, high refresh rates, VRR, measured brightness or detailed gaming performance.
Amazon’s wider Ember family also includes 2-Series, 4-Series and QLED models, but those conventional televisions are not equivalent to the Artline’s dedicated frame and art hardware.
Bottom line
The Ember Artline is a legitimate Samsung The Frame alternative, not merely a Fire TV in a fancy bezel. Its strongest case is the combination of a matte display, ten frame colours, more than 2,000 included artworks, Amazon Photos, room-matching recommendations and deep Fire TV/Alexa integration at a $899.99 US starting price. Its weaknesses are the still-unconfirmed performance and installation specifications, plus the usual privacy and regional-availability questions. Buy it for the lifestyle experience; wait for independent testing if television picture quality or gaming is your priority.
