LG announced DUALCOOL AI Air globally in January 2025, but the available LG India sources do not confirm a launch of that exact product in India. Indian buyers may find LG models with related AI+, DUAL inverter and ThinQ features, but those are different product lines. Here’s what the global model is designed to do—and what to check before buying an LG AC in India.
Was DUALCOOL AI Air released in India?
LG unveiled the DUALCOOL AI Air in Seoul on January 28, 2025. That announcement describes a global product and its features; it does not establish an India launch. The LG India sources available here document other products and ranges, but do not identify an India-specific model number, product page or price for DUALCOOL AI Air.
That distinction matters because similar LG terminology refers to separate offerings:
- DUALCOOL AI Air: the global product announced in 2025.
- DUALCOOL AI+ and AI Convertible 6-in-1: an India range LG announced in 2023, comprising 81 models.
- LG’s 2026 India AC lineup: a portfolio designed for the revised BEE star-rating norms, with features including PreCool and Energy Manager+ on relevant models.
- LG Essential Series: a separate India series announced in 2026, not another name for DUALCOOL AI Air.

What does the AI in DUALCOOL AI Air do?
Here, “AI” means automated sensing and control—not a system that reasons like a person. According to LG, DUALCOOL AI Air can assess room conditions and adjust temperature, fan speed and airflow direction. A human-detecting radar sensor is intended to identify where someone is in the room so the AC can direct airflow toward them for faster cooling, then switch to indirect “Soft Air” once the target condition is reached.
LG says the sensor’s range is up to five metres, with actual detection affected by installation and the environment. Furniture, obstructions, sensor placement and room layout may all matter, so treat this as a feature for managing airflow in an occupied area—not a guarantee of room-wide detection.
The global announcement also describes ThinQ-based learning of usage patterns, Sleep Timer+ adjustments during sleep, occupancy detection that can reduce operation when a room is empty, and window-open detection that responds to a sudden temperature change. AI kW Manager lets users set and monitor electricity-use limits. These controls may help manage comfort and consumption, but they do not guarantee lower bills: the outcome depends on the model, settings, room, weather and electricity tariff.
Cleaning and air-care features—and their limits
LG lists All Cleaning through the ThinQ app, Freeze Cleaning for the evaporator, Auto Clean+ to dry the unit’s interior, multi-step filtration and Plasmaster Ionizer++ among the global model’s features. Availability and operation should be confirmed for the exact market and model.
LG attributes an “up to 99.9%” reduction of adhering bacteria to Plasmaster Ionizer++ testing by TÜV Rheinland. The stated test involved bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a 30 m³ test room. That is a specific test claim, not evidence that the AC sterilizes an entire home, removes every airborne pollutant or replaces ventilation or a dedicated air purifier.

What can Indian buyers get from LG?
AI+ DUAL inverter and Convertible 6-in-1 models
LG’s 2023 India range announcement describes AI+, ThinQ connectivity and Convertible 6-in-1 cooling; it says the range comprised 81 models, with some features limited to selected models. LG describes adjustable operation from 40% to 110% of capacity. Lower-capacity operation may suit some conditions, but “40%” does not mean the AC always uses only 40% of its rated electricity. VIRAAT mode is intended for faster, higher-capacity cooling and may use more power.
LG’s current India AC catalogue lists AI+ DUAL inverter models and features such as AI Convertible 6-in-1 cooling, ADC sensors, wireless connectivity and ThinQ app or voice control. These are range-level descriptions, not proof that every model has every feature. Wi-Fi, remote operation, voice control and particular sensors must be confirmed against the exact model number and its manual.

LG says its 2026 India AC portfolio, available from early January 2026, complies with the new BEE star-rating norms. A star label is tied to its rating framework: stricter thresholds can mean a product that earned five stars under an earlier framework is rated four stars under the newer one. That change alone does not prove the AC became less efficient.
Compare the BEE label year, ISEER, annual energy consumption and cooling capacity—not just the star count. Older-standard stock may also remain on sale while inventory lasts, so check the label on the specific unit you will receive.
LG’s 2026 India communications also highlight PreCool, which uses geofencing and ThinQ automation to start cooling before arrival, and Energy Manager+, which analyzes usage and allows a periodic budget target. HimClean and other capabilities are also described at portfolio level. Confirm that a particular model supports the feature before relying on it.

LG estimates that upgrading to a new five-star AC could save about ₹19,000 over 10 years. This is an estimate, not a promised saving. Actual costs depend on factors such as room size and insulation, set temperature, operating hours, outdoor heat, maintenance, tariff and the efficiency of the AC being replaced.

The separate Essential Series announced in February 2026 includes features LG describes as Smart Inverter Compressor, Variable Tonnage Technology, Convertible 6-in-1 operation, Diet mode, Active Energy Control, Smart Care, VIRAAT mode, Gold Fin+ coating, copper tubes and stabilizer-free operation. LG lists an operating voltage range of 140 V to 295 V and a 10-year compressor warranty for the announced series; check the exact model’s terms and specifications before purchase. “Stabilizer-free” does not mean protection from every surge or electrical fault—follow installation requirements and seek an electrician’s assessment if your supply is unstable.

No India-specific price or confirmed India model number for the exact DUALCOOL AI Air was established in the cited LG sources. A global product page or a retailer listing without a matching LG India model number is not enough to establish local launch, warranty or service eligibility. Before buying an imported or ambiguously listed unit, confirm the model, voltage, warranty and support with LG India. Otherwise, compare models actually listed in the LG India AC catalogue.
How to decide whether an LG smart AC is worth it
A ThinQ or sensor-equipped model may be a good fit if you will use remote control, automation, occupancy-aware airflow or usage monitoring, and the exact model supports those features. Reliable Wi-Fi and willingness to configure an app are practical prerequisites for connected functions. Core cooling may still work without connectivity, but app features and analytics may not.
A simpler inverter AC may be the better value if you rarely use apps, have unreliable Wi-Fi, prefer fewer setup steps or face a large premium for smart features. In either case, prioritize a properly sized unit, energy label details, installation quality and local service support over the word “AI.”

Buying checklist
- Record the exact model number and verify it on LG India’s product pages.
- Choose cooling capacity for the room and conditions; do not assume a higher-capacity mode is an efficiency mode.
- Check the BEE label year, ISEER and annual energy consumption together.
- Confirm Wi-Fi, ThinQ, voice control, ADC or human-detection sensors, and cleaning features model by model.
- Read warranty terms, including compressor coverage and exclusions.
- Ask what installation includes and what it costs in your location; do not assume a nationwide fee.
- Check LG service coverage, voltage requirements, delivery terms and the retailer’s return policy.
- If comparing an older five-star unit with a 2026 four-star unit, compare label year and measured specifications rather than star counts alone.
