The Reolink TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi is a hardwired outdoor security camera that combines a 4K wide-angle lens, a separate telephoto lens, motorized pan-and-tilt tracking, an adjustable floodlight, and local AI video search. It is designed for driveways, entrances, side yards, and other areas where one camera needs both a broad view and closer detail.
The most important installation qualification is easy to miss: Wi-Fi carries the data, but the camera still requires hardwired 100–240V AC power. It is not a battery camera, PoE camera, USB camera, or simple low-voltage plug-in model.
What the Reolink TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi is
Reolink announced the TrackFlex at IFA 2025 and launched it in the United States in 2026. The company describes it as a dual-lens 4K, 360-degree PTZ floodlight camera with local AI video search. The launch announcement listed a U.S. starting retail price of $259.99, but that is a historical launch-price signal rather than a guaranteed current price. Check the official product page for current availability and pricing.
Its value comes from combining several functions in one installation:

- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity without a mandatory cloud subscription, according to Reolink’s launch announcement.
That makes the TrackFlex more specialized than a conventional fixed floodlight camera. However, it should not automatically be treated as a replacement for two fixed cameras: the camera still views one direction at a time, and PTZ tracking can be affected by obstructions, motion, lighting, network reliability, and where the camera is currently pointed.
How the dual-lens PTZ system works
The TrackFlex uses a 2.8mm fixed wide-angle lens and an 8mm fixed telephoto lens. Reolink lists the wide-angle view at 104 degrees horizontally and 60 degrees vertically. The telephoto view is narrower, at 38 degrees horizontally and 21 degrees vertically.
The practical idea is simple: the wide lens maintains context while the telephoto lens provides a closer view of a person, vehicle, or other subject. Reolink calls the combined capability 6× hybrid zoom, not 6× optical zoom. The separate telephoto lens can provide more useful detail than merely cropping a wide image, but it cannot overcome extreme distance, darkness, motion blur, obstruction, or poor positioning.

A dual-lens design is intended to reduce that compromise by retaining a broad scene while adding a closer view of the tracked subject. The available documentation does not establish that the two lenses function as two fully independent cameras, so the safer description is a coordinated wide-angle-and-telephoto system.
What “360-degree coverage” means
Reolink’s 360-degree claim refers primarily to the camera’s ability to rotate its viewing direction around the mounting point using motorized pan-and-tilt movement. It does not necessarily mean that the camera continuously records every direction at once as a panoramic camera would.

This distinction matters when choosing between the TrackFlex and a fixed panoramic camera such as a Duo Floodlight model. A PTZ camera can follow a moving subject and offer telephoto detail; a fixed panoramic system may provide more consistent simultaneous coverage of a defined area.

The main stream records at 3840×2160, or 8MP, at up to 20 frames per second. That can preserve more detail than a lower-resolution camera when a subject occupies enough of the frame. It does not guarantee that a distant face or license plate will be identifiable.
Usable detail depends on the subject’s distance, angle, movement, lighting, compression, obstructions, and the camera’s mounting position. The telephoto lens may matter more than the 4K label when the important activity occurs at the far end of a driveway or path. Twenty frames per second is suitable for ordinary surveillance, but it is not high-frame-rate video.
Local AI video search: what it does and does not mean
The camera supports detection for people, vehicles, and animals, as well as Reolink’s local AI Video Search feature. Reolink describes the search function as a way to locate events in locally stored recordings using descriptive keywords.
These are separate functions:
- Detection classifies motion while the system is monitoring.
- Tracking moves the PTZ camera to follow a detected subject.
- Search helps locate relevant events in recorded footage.
- Out-of-view detection is intended to identify relevant activity beyond the currently visible view.
“Local” indicates that the search is associated with footage stored locally rather than requiring all recordings to be uploaded to a cloud service. It should not be read as a guarantee that every AI operation works entirely offline or that the camera has no network dependency. Search also depends on having recordings available and correctly indexed.
Independent coverage has not been uniformly positive. Android Central reported that some AI-assisted searches did not reliably find expected footage. That is a reviewer experience, not a universal performance benchmark, but it is a reason to treat AI search as a convenience rather than a substitute for ordinary timeline playback, recording schedules, motion zones, and notifications.

Floodlight and night performance
The integrated floodlight is adjustable from zero to 3,000 lumens. Reolink advertises illumination up to approximately 12 metres, a color temperature range of roughly 3,000K to 6,500K, color night vision with the floodlight enabled, and infrared night vision up to approximately 30 metres or 100 feet.
Maximum lumen output does not determine real-world performance on its own. Mounting height, beam pattern, weather, wall reflections, glare, and the direction of the light all matter. At full brightness, the light may be useful for deterrence and color footage, but it could disturb neighbors or wash out subjects close to the camera. Check the available dimming and motion-light controls rather than assuming the light needs to operate at maximum output.
The TrackFlex may supplement or replace a conventional exterior light in some locations, but the specifications alone do not prove that it can replace every form of property lighting. A construction or electrical professional should also consider the existing fixture, junction box, circuit, and local requirements.
Installation: Wi-Fi does not mean wire-free
The TrackFlex requires hardwired AC power. Reolink support documentation lists the model among cameras requiring AC wire power and identifies AC 100–240V support. Wi-Fi removes the need for an Ethernet data cable, but it does not remove the need for electrical wiring.
Before buying, check whether the proposed mounting location has:
- A suitable outdoor junction box or existing mains-voltage floodlight circuit.
- Safe, code-compliant electrical wiring.
- A mounting surface that can support the camera and protect the connection.
- Enough clearance for pan-and-tilt movement.
- A reliable Wi-Fi signal at the final exterior mounting position.
This is not a battery camera, PoE camera, USB camera, or ordinary low-voltage plug-in camera. Replacing an existing mains-powered floodlight may be relatively straightforward for a qualified professional, while a new location without wiring may require additional electrical work. Do not rely on generic wiring instructions: installation should follow the current regional manual and local electrical code, and a licensed electrician may be appropriate.

Wi-Fi requirements and placement
The TrackFlex supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6. In general, 2.4GHz offers better range and wall penetration but can be more congested. 5GHz can provide higher throughput and less congestion but usually has shorter range and weaker penetration through walls.

Test the network at the intended mounting location. A nearby mesh node or access point may be more valuable than the Wi-Fi 6 label itself, particularly through exterior walls or across a large property.
For supported models, Reolink documents the path Settings → Network → Wi-Fi Settings → Wi-Fi Band Preference, with Auto, Only 5GHz, and Only 2.4GHz options. Because availability varies by model, firmware, and app version, confirm that this control appears on the installed camera before relying on it.

The simplest recording arrangement is a microSD card installed in the camera. Reolink’s current support guidance lists the TrackFlex series among dual-lens models supporting up to 512GB microSD storage.
- Camera-only microSD recording: This is the simplest and least expensive setup. Footage remains at the camera, but theft or damage to the camera can also remove the evidence.
- Reolink Home Hub: A compatible Home Hub can centralize storage and provide another recording destination.
- Reolink NVR: An NVR is better suited to a larger multi-camera system and longer-term storage planning.
Reolink documents simultaneous recording to the camera’s SD card and an NVR or Home Hub, with independent schedules. For important property coverage, redundant recording is stronger than relying on a single card inside an exposed camera.
No mandatory subscription does not mean no ongoing cost. Buyers may still need a high-endurance microSD card, Home Hub, NVR, replacement storage, Wi-Fi equipment, firmware maintenance, and electrical installation or service calls.

Placement advice for construction and property projects
For a driveway, mount the camera so the telephoto view reaches the approach area while the wide-angle view retains the surrounding context. For a side yard, check that PTZ movement is not blocked by a wall, roof edge, tree, or nearby fixture. For a backyard or large entrance, map the likely approach paths before selecting the junction-box position.
- Mount high enough to discourage tampering, but not so high that faces become difficult to capture.
- Avoid aiming directly toward sunrise or sunset.
- Keep the floodlight away from neighboring windows and avoid unnecessary glare.
- Confirm that the camera can move through its intended viewing area.
- Test Wi-Fi at the actual mounting height and location.
- Use motion zones and recording schedules suited to the property.
- Respect local privacy laws and avoid areas where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
The supplied product information establishes outdoor use, but a specific regional ingress-protection rating, operating-temperature range, or tilt specification should be confirmed from the current regional product page or manual before final installation planning.

Who should buy the TrackFlex?
The TrackFlex is a strong candidate when one mounting point must cover a large area, closer views of distant activity are useful, and an existing mains-voltage connection is available. It is particularly relevant for a large driveway, side yard with multiple approach paths, backyard, gate, or entrance where a fixed camera would provide too little reach.
Choose another approach if you need battery power, PoE, a simple plug-in installation, reliable wired networking, or continuous fixed coverage in every direction. It is also a poor fit for a narrow property that gains little from PTZ movement or telephoto zoom.
For a construction project, plan the camera as an electrical and network installation—not merely as a gadget purchase. Confirm the junction box, circuit, mounting surface, drainage and weather exposure, Wi-Fi coverage, lighting direction, and storage plan before the final finish work.
Verdict
The Reolink TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi is compelling because it combines wide-angle context, telephoto detail, PTZ tracking, a bright adjustable floodlight, and local storage without requiring a monthly subscription. Its most significant limitation is also the most important planning detail: it needs hardwired AC power, and its 360-degree claim describes motorized coverage rather than a continuously visible panoramic feed.
It is worth considering for large outdoor areas with reliable Wi-Fi and existing or planned mains wiring. Whether it is worth the current price depends on how much value you place on telephoto tracking and integrated lighting compared with a fixed panoramic camera, a conventional floodlight camera, or two simpler cameras. Verify the live price, regional specifications, and installation requirements before ordering.
